    The Proteus is the Strategic Cruiser of the Gallente Federation. Its well known for its armor tanking abilitys as well as its high damage output. While the Tengu is more known for being used for PVE activities, the Proteus is more of a PVP capable vessel, since it doesn't have to sacrifice tank for E-War modules like a Warp Scrambler. This capability doesn't necessarily mean that the Proteus is actually used for PVP, since it is - like all Tech 3 Ships - tied to very high costs. The Proteus is highly versatile due to its many various subsystems, which grant bonuses to turret damage, armor repair ammount as well as drone damage.  These subsystems do have an influence on the available slots and the appearance of the Proteus.
     
    Unlike Tech 1 and Tech 2 Ships, Tech 3 Ships can only be produced using the salvaged and recovered remains of Sleeper NPC's, which are only found in the unknown systems beyond wormholes.
