Going to put this at the top since the rest will likely be a fumbling mess. Brand, Alex, and Vinny, you all are great people with amazing talent, whatever comes next for each of you i wish only the best of luck and happiness going forward. I'm sure each of you will do great things no matter what you choose to do.

Now onward to the emotional train wreck the rest of this is going to turn into. I have only been following GiantBomb since 2013 and over these last 7ish years i cannot put into words how much joy and support i have received from each of you. Back when i first picked up the podcast i would never have thought i would feel like losing family following a departure but here we are. I have mostly been quiet in my time following GiantBomb but i really want to convey now, how much you all changed my life in such a positive way over the years. Thank you, to each of you and everyone at GiantBomb for everything you have done for me and the gaming community, which i can say is way more than you might even know. I will miss you all so much.

Thanks you Brad

Thank you Alex

Huge thank you to Vinny

This is a huge bummer... Best wishes duders

This is a hard question at the moment because i am only, lets say half way, through RDR2 at this point. But in general i am the opposite, i think TW3 is one of my favorite games in the last decade, where as im not sure if i like RDR2 quite yet. As far as heavy movement goes, i would still give Witcher the edge because of click to object movement, which allowed Geralt to maneuver himself where you want to go, whereas in RDR2 you need to pick up each object individually and doing so in 3rd person is real real bad.

However the biggest pain point for me so far is what was mentioned by BoOzak earlier, is the lack of progression. It makes sense in the world that there are guns, and those are the guns, and the food. But now having anything to work towards as far as character progression from the early point in the game is a real bummer.

Also where for me, not all parts of TW3 story hit to hard, some hit really hard for me (some early on some later), but I have yet to really enjoy the story beats in RDR2 but will need to see if it really ramps up from where I am.

I'd have to throw my hat in for Diablo 3 on this one, Diablo 2 was pretty much the game that got me to love the hobby i do today.

However at launch, Diablo 3 was a mess from so many angles, from its auction house existing, to drop rates of unique items being garbage for your class (due to them being lowered to not flood the AH), the lack of a paragon system pre level cap, to the TERRIBLE story and how that played out, and how the bosses were easy and uninspired. That game was a total let down when it first came out in so many ways, until this post i didn't think to much on it but it is probably my most disappointing moment in gaming history.

I will say despite the pessimism i have for the launch of that game, other than the story which is irredeemable by patches, I like to think that Diablo 3 is now a game that i quite enjoy, not perfect but much much better. Now im waiting for a sequel because with all the lessons they learned from this game, they can make a great 4th installment without stumbling out of the gate.

I'm not exactly new to giantbomb but didnt even know they had game specific sub forms! Just looked into it today with the resurgence of Dota 2 in the GB office with the addition of Ben. Hoping maybe either he himself or Brad have the desire to get the fires burning again to bring life to the dota 2 community here!

#5  Edited By Wytao

Read a lot of posts and decided I'm just going to throw my 2 cents in.

The two catagories to look at between these two systems will by hardware and software. As far as hardware is concerned I'm really only looking at the portability of the switch, which if your planning on taking the train a lot and like to play games portability may be a huge boon for this console.

Then when it comes to software things are really tricky right now, because with the PS4, you have a large backlog of games to play (with a ton of recent 3rd party exclusives to munch on), and lots of exclusives 3rd or 1st party coming down the pipe. I own a PC and tend to like Japanese games a ton (recently Persona 5 and Nioh), which tend to not be published or ported so well to PC. So you can look there and if there are more than 5 games you are interested in, id recommend a PS4 pro (also the Last of Us 2 is coming, cant wait). The reason the Switch is weird is because there is a lot of potential there, but at the moment thats all it is, we have no idea really how that console is going to preform on the software front past the first year. You gotta remember that there is a Zelda on it, but that will be the only Zelda on it (not generated but VERY likely, unless we get a 2D Zelda, in which case cant wait), there is a Mario Cart but they may not make another one, after Mario this year it there may not be another signal player Mario game again. But for a lot that's ok, you should at this point, already know if you like those types of games enough to get a Switch to plat them. So it also comes down to how often you play games, i know some people that wont finish Zelda for many months, but if you play a TON of games, likely the Switch does not and will not for a while, have a library to satisfy intense gaming as a investment at the moment.

It not a overly easy decision where to place your money, at the moment i would say PS4 pro, if only to let the Switch stew for a while and pick it up later, in 1-2 years, there will then be a great proven backlog that you can get in yourself, while in the meantime playing the backlog of PS4 games and what is to come which is more than enough to get you but without regret.
