@austin_walker right in there dropping Hamilton knowledge before anyone even knew that's what the conversation was about.
I know you said on your Extra Life steam that you wanted to see Hamilton, so how's that going? Please tell me you at least bought that KILLER soundtrack.
I spent the summer in New York, and I miss the bagels so much. I used to grab one before work every morning and now that I live in a bagel-less situation my breakfast just feels flat and sad. :(
(Also I love you, Alex! You are a cool dude and I think you're great!)
Austin made such a good point about DOAX and how people respond to hyper sexualization in media on last week's Beastcast, and it feels appropriate again now.
Like, I'm a bi lady. When I was in middle school I thought the DOAX games were FASCINATING and I was like "wow anime girls! boobs! this should have been a big red flag that i'm not straight but it'll still take me until high school to notice!"
I'm a vocal intersectional feminist that doesn't have problems criticizing even things I like a lot. Yo, I don't have a single issue with the DOA series because it doesn't put on airs or pretend to be something it isn't. You know what I love a lot and still have innumerable problems with? Metal Gear.
This is a great personal example for where my own threshold for this sort of thing lies. DOA isn't for me because I'm not in middle school anymore and cloth tech boob physics are just kind of silly, but I don't have a problem with it because it is what it is. It's a sexy anime girl game, not a super technical beach volleyball game going "whoops haha how'd these titties get here?"
This art style is fine by itself but putting it with the typography art is just way too big of an aesthetic clash for me. The backgrounds are too finely rendered and looks weird and wrong next to all the simple letter forms.
Maybe I'm being extra snobby since I'm in a design-related field, but seriously, it's killing me how much I dislike the combination.
