And hey, they should put all the stuff that's for sure not active series in the "archive" section.

I don't think it's so hard to read between the lines with what happened. As in, there's absolutely no bad blood on a personal level. Being a solo soldier versus being responsible for a semi-big site means you have more say about your own time and less time spent in bureaucracy (managing multiple people and a site takes time!). Giant Bomb was born in a pre-Twitch pre-Patreon world, and these things now exist. Maybe it was just a time and place thing to jump out in the world again.

I was so stressed this morning with this announcement existing but the full context to come. I suppose it's the parasocial relationship's I gotta shake off.. but at this point, I'm convinced that Giant Bomb is a reasonably good place. I'm excited to see where stuff heads.

..but please, all those shows on the show page that clearly are over? Please put them in the archived section, for my sake.. thank you

Doom 2016 is easier to recommend but Eternal has the best combat in a first person shooter ever.

Was really surprised to see this particular announcement having engaged with VoidBurger's vids before. I didn't know GB were looking at picking up shows from The Tube, but it's cool to know that it's a possibility. Pretty damn excited for this.

Ergh, perhaps the JS error doesn't appear if I refresh, actually. Hmmh. Still, the issue of videos not playing remains.

Another quirk is that the thumbnails that used to exist with in the player before you click play are not there either on Firefox.

When trying to play a video on the site using Firefox 90 on Windows 10, I get this error. The site video player has actually not worked for a little bit, but I just hoped on the premium trial to be able to access some content so this is not working right now is a bit of a bummer.

@bigsocrates: @afabs515: I like how both of you insinuated I think publishers should court even the most amateurish of fan developers just cuz. Like, that's not my angle. If a unlicensed fan project shows promise and it makes sense (ergo, it'd break even if sold at the very least), publishers should consider contacting the developers and talk. Find out if they'd be up for the task of managing some amount of funding or whatever angle they take on it. I've seen enough unlicensed fan projects like AM2R, Sonic 2 HD and Sonic: Before The Sequel / After The Sequel that I think could easily be sold with some touch-ups through funded development. You could brand games differently, make the differences between it and "canonical" games or whatever clear. I understand that it's a risk to reach developers without a ton of professional experience, but I don't want to imply the skill / experience levels of people just because they are involved in unlicensed fan projects.

Publishers should fund some of these fan-projects and release them in a official capacity.

Which ones though? You don't throw money at random people and most fan developers have no track record. Even if they are technically proficient you run the risk of them putting offensive material into an officially licensed product. It's not just a matter of "oh they made a Sonic level and it seems cool." You need to know the people you're doing business with, and be able to trust them.

That's for the publishers and developers to handle. If a partnership doesn't work out, it doesn't. It's not like a shipped product would be unchecked for potential offensive material and other things.

Doing Crash Bandicoot 2 100% is almost on par with playing through Super Mario 64 normally. I'm not joking, this is what I think. Discovering all the collectibles is a lot of fun, and the movement feels great and like something you can get good at.
