I'm sorry for your loss. I think it's kind of amazing that this is the third guest article about grieving. It's​a topic that often never comes up, much less in relation to video games. Yet this site has a surplus of people talking openly about some of the hardest stuff there is. Thanks Mike!

@djs9pd: I had the same experience with the Wii U. It was our Netflix box and occasionally my Splatoon machine. Hopefully the Switch will get some games I want to play soon. Or at least get access to some sort of useful virtual console.

@shtinky: I agree! I was super stoked for the Switch for just that reason. The whole time I heard people debating the Switch I was thinking, "That sounds like a super Vita. Perfect!" Now the main problem I have with the Switch is that it lacks the library that PS Classics gives the Vita. Once Nintendo puts some old games on there, I'll get a Switch.

@kmfrob: Yeah, the emblem for me of my early social issues was a time when I was invited to the movies with friends. Rather than asking for a ride from my parents, I just sat upstairs playing Psychonauts. When my dad checked on me and asked about my plans, I told him it was too late for me to make the movie so I shouldn't go. I had people who actively wanted me somewhere, but gaming was just easier, so I didn't go. In the grand scheme of things it wasn't the hugest deal, but it really crystalized how much inertia gaming was adding to my life.

And yes, the Vita is awesome. I couldn't practice FFv speed runs without it.

@zirilius: ZP had to ask me multiple times what each GF did despite me guiding him through the game by the hand. If two characters have the same name, it might end him.

I did my part. I humbly request that we team up and name every nameable thing in FFVIII either Zell. Rinoa's new name? Zell. All of the GFs? They're Zells now. Rinoa's dog? Zell. Squall's lion? He's Zell. Zell is only one letter away from hell. Coincidence? You decide.

@arbitrarywater: He is currently committed to finishing all of disc 1! And it's only going to get better!

@hassun: He has done that for every foot run. This year will continue the trend. The only question is how much per toe!

@arbitrarywater: Yeah I didn't love this game. It's got some real problems. It wasn't completely terrible, but it's problems greatly outweigh its successes in my experience.

@magris: When he's done I'll throw together a blog post with all of his blogs and our podcasts. I did that for FFVIII and I think it was useful.
