From the cases, it looks like they have a mix of HDCAM and Digibeta tapes. The HDCAMs can carry up to twelve channels and the Digibetas can carry eight, and 5.1 on channels 1-6 with stereo left total and right total on 7-8 is a pretty standard config for many masters on that stock, especially when they don't have or need music / effect / dialogue stem channels like these demos.
It's enjoyable to read an article that elaborates on this mechanic beyond the simplification to the word "creepy", which seems to have settled in as a weasel word that allows a person to bypass explanation of any discomfort they are feeling.

Crazy idea and major wishful thinking- NX proves to be have mobile and console modes after all, and they bring back Actraiser to have the city building on mobile to power up your main character in a Dark Souls-like experience on the main console. That might be fun!
Man, I could never imagine a city building / side scrolling beat em up mashup working so damn well. It was disappointing as hell that the sequel axed the city building.
