This being full price is absolutely criminal. Nintendo don’t get anywhere near enough criticism for this, everyone just shrugs and says ‘oh well that’s the Nintendo tax’.
I was considering buying this for a bit of light hearted fun but boy did this turn me off. Maybe not all the maps are like this but being so small with absolutely no variation throughout the game seems like terrible design
I disagree with Abby on the women in GoW argument (Vinny is right, there's only about 5 real characters in the entire game and all the male characters are equally flawed as the females) but I think she generally did a good job of explaining why she held that point of view right up until she finished with 'I don't fucking care'.
Abby does seem to be unfairly targeted but I have to say her points are coming across so much stronger and more well articulated this year than last even if you disagree with them (something every new staff member bar Austin has struggled with in their first GOTY deliberations).
Finally, I think the fact that Vinny was the one person who didn't have an issue with the 'Atreus is a pain in the ass' section of the game is hilarious as the parent among the group.
Just got started but just want to say I love the format change. I was planning on skipping most of the GOTY content because I have found in the past the discussions always descended into comparing the negative aspects of games to decide what made the lists. This new format is awesome and should bring out the positivity which is what you really want the discussions at the end of the year to be about.
The explosive duck is such a weird thing for them to give to you right away in Hitman 2. It basically lets you follow any mission story and do exactly what Vinny did on every mission. Of course that’s not where the fun lies in the game but it’s certainly tempting for elusive targets
The crew have often talked about having issues with the suspend/resume feature on the consoles but for me it's been my favourite feature of this generation and I can't remember a time I've ever lost progress using it. The only examples I can think of being pushed back out to menus is if you use it within multiplayer lobbies but thats to be expected.
The original PlayStation was my introduction to video games and everything I played was PAL region. The Nintendo classics didn’t interest me but I’m excited for this to show up. Not really sure why so much of the internet seems so upset at its existence. It’s a weird nostalgia piece for a specific audience and I’m glad Sony did it
I know Dota players have a reputation for pouring money into the game but surely they won’t go in big on a game that seems entirely pay to win? I thought we were past this kind of thing where paying for power has been replaced by paying for cosmetics. I have no interest in Dota but Artifact’s business model seems to fly completely in the face of what made Dota 2 so popular and profitable
I wonder how much of Dan's problems with RDR2 stem from the inherent need to get it finished and move onto new games coming out. Rorie mentioned on Twitter this week about how much he was enjoying playing AC Odyssey by playing it in small doses which is something I've felt with a lot of long games this year. I feel like a lot of longer games are being harshly judged by those in the industry who by virtue of their jobs have to almost rush through them where they might be better enjoyed over a longer period of time.
A few times now Brad has mentioned this game having less content than the first in terms of number of maps. This seems like a weird thing to bring up as I feel like you have to treat the full Hitman 1 experience as a sort of GOTY edition where the full set of maps includes what would be DLC in a normal release. No doubt Hitman 2 will add more maps over time and ultimately have as many if not more locations than the previous game
