@bassman2112: So it's a problem you have with the whole genre, then. I can't say a generally disagree with you. Playing Symphony of the Night recently, I was reminded how satisfying it was to go back and mop the floor with enemies that used to kick my ass. That's definitely one of the most satisfying aspects to a good RPG of any kind.
I can't help but feel like a lot of these games are glorified remakes of the original Castlevania. I even get this confused with the actual remake the made for the PSOne.
The way the game scales is probably a valid criticism. I only say probably because I haven't played it yet. It seems to me, though, that every online shooter RPG hybrid suffers from the same problem. Do you think it has something to do with the human enemies you face and that we're all used to people going down with one or two shots in Call of Duty? I'm interested to see what you thought of Destiny if you played it. Would it seem more acceptable if you were shooting something that looks tougher and more alien? Is it the realistic visuals that make it harder to suspend disbelief and in turn make it more frustrating?
