Hearing the crew guess ow2/D4 in 2022; didn't Blizzard officially push OW2/Diablo 4 to 2023 in some investor thingy, or was that just how the media perceived it?

Someone’s mic was picking up their keyboard and mouse a little too well. Lots of typing, clicking, and mouse wheel scrolling noise. Damned misophonia. :(

The mouse scroll noise in some part of the podcast was driving me nuts.

Other then that, great pod!

I've played a lot of Satisfactory and that will be my go to when they finish it in 2029.

Until then I've been looking at this and Factorio. Anyone with experience with both who can tell me which of these are most easily digestable? I feel like the 1-2 hours of Factorio demo i've played left me super overwhelmed and confused.

Great list mr Mahardy, and as others have said, your GOTY with Dan and Mary was awesome!

Half-Life: Alyx sounds like a mind expanding experience, it's seriously tempting me to get a Valve Index.

You probably know this, but ive played through HL Alyx on my Quest (with link cable and wireless with virtual desktop) twice now and i'm on my 3rd playthrough on Quest 2, and its every bit as amazing as people who've played it on Index claims. Besides the whole Facebook debacle, playing a game like Alyx without any wires imho makes up for the benefits Index brings.

Also, that producer's note is a fucking shambles. No apology, no accountability, no forward motion; just a shrug and an excuse and a 'get in touch through a controlled environment'.

English isn't my first language, but it literally says "I have failed that for this episode." Isn't that accountability?

Either way, I very much enjoyed the podcast, so this whole debacle is a shame. I've read the things people are upset about, and as a someone who is not in the LGBT+ community, it seems very internal, so i can understand how this mistake was made.

I hope we get more podcasts like this in the future, Abby bringing in fresh content is very appreciated.

Love the show as always! Just one small rant...

Please, for the love of god, mention the name of the game you are discussing! It feels like Beastcast is super aware to always mention the title of the game in discussion at least once or twice, while Brad love setups like "they also announced another game, thoughts?" and i'm here on my podcast app with no insight into 2K games and have no idea wtf they are talking about.

Jeff is absolutely right about Half Life Alyx - its fucking frustrating when you have this beautiful amazingly immersive experience and then you have to shoot yourself in the face to remove a headcrab and yes you can miss. not having any kind of arm or melee response to the head crabs is completely game breaking. It is a cool game full of cool set pieces but the whole interaction with the headcrabs sucks. really sucks.

I don't understand how Jeff and you both played this game expecting melee/hand physics and seemingly completely missed it. You cant melee to damage because it sucks ass, playing through Boneworks made this super obvious. No force feedback while you are swinging around melee weapons just feels bad.

But you can totally use your hands in HL Alyx, actually one of the headcrap types is MADE to encourage this behaviour. When i shook off the worst fear of the game, i spend most of it catching headcrabs leaping through the air with my hands, and giving them a one-shot up close with my shotgun, and it felt amazing. If you catch em just right you can even avoid their damaging forearms which further enhance how it feels to do stuff like that. You can also easily use random stuff as shield if you need.

The only thing that doesnt work is using random stuff as melee/throwing weapon, again, because it just doesnt feel good. Other games have shown this plenty.

Im about 11 hours in, and unlike Jeff im totally blown away. As a 36 year old dude I can't remember the last time i said "holy shit" once every hour "just" because of a game. Sure, it's not a vr revolution like some might have expected, but to me it's by far the most polished VR game I've played. The graphic and world (esp on ultra) is amazing, the sound design is spot on, the writing and voice action is (like all Valve games) spectaculair.

Granted, I AM a Half-life fan, which definitely only makes the experience better. Nothing like seeing all this stuff you watched in 2d in hl1/2/episodes suddenly fully blown up in 3d and in amazingly high resolution.

Just for reference, i played it on a Quest (with link cable, 2070 gfx) and only had like 1.3x1.3m (4x4 foot) space after moving my couch around, and while it wasn't perfect it was plenty fine to have an unforgettable experience. If you (like me) love half-life i would highly recommend trying out this game.

For people who dislike the hud, I dont think you can switch to "doom 2016 hud" but there is a TON of customization options: (1min45sec in)
