@dizzie_lizzie: if hbomberguy, the king of releasing videos in a timely fashion, can stay at 10k for all this time, I don’t think the guys will have a problem keeping those subs up.

And all the folks saying they bailed on Jeff really need to grow up. This isn’t a club house, it’s their jobs and careers.

Honestly, I’m happy all around. I get that people are focused if it is good for the “consumer”, but I’m not. I’m more concerned with if these changes allow the GB crew, former and current, to remain happy and have healthy work life balance. Because I don’t like to be defined by a someone who “consumes” Giant Bomb.

Honestly, I’m just happy to have a podcast with Vinny on it once a week. It was a sad time when he wasn’t telling me about the best podcast in the world. That is worth the $10 bucks a month.

@frytup eh, I’m 40 and not really seeing that at all.

Plus, Alex has done it twice, returning to games coverage after Harmonics. Brad could move over to tech coverage for any number of sites or do something else, given that he is a skilled writer. And Vinny could just be a video producer for any number of places, given his skill set.

Alex opens the first pod by saying he strongly considered not being in a public facing job. Given how shitty games fandom is, I was fully prepared for the guys to leave the industry all together due to burn out.

@ultimaxe: but this route allows them to be their own bosses and set their own goals.

@frytup: but from a labor standpoint, more control and less pressure for constant growth is good for Vinny, Brad and Alex. And without those, it is likely that they would have left the industry entirely. I was fully ready to accept that Vinny and Alex were moving to new, not front facing jobs.

Love Ben's honest take on the Bomb Cast today. Ben punching the hard out and saying "Nah, this whole video games coverage and being an internet personality isn't for me" is what I've loved about him over the years. I am so glad he has been around all this time and I've everything he has done. Except get Brad into Dota. That part hurt us all.

It is important to remember that CDProject Red went public is 2018, three years AFTER they released the Witcher 3. And from all reporting, that is the change that caused this game to get kicked out the door in an unfinished state. Unreasonable time lines from the people at the top, even as they were told the game would not be ready.

@tunnelman: none that I can recall. Few retailers are willing to pick up the tab(yes, processing refunds costs money) for the mistakes of the manufacturer. And if they are forced to process returns on mass, they make every effort pass those costs on to product manufacturers.

Also, from my retail experience, rejecting a return from an angry customer never felt “safe”. It is very rare that people get violent over that stuff, but does happen. And that is what is going through your mind when some customer is yelling at you because they can’t get a refund.
