This was such a good time. I was so thrilled to see Klepek show up to reminisce about that particular moment of everyone's lives. I had forgotten how much bullshit Dan put in these levels.

Glad your stepdad made it through.

I go through similar "funks" multiple times per year, and it's always a bummer. But like you mentioned, I will eventually come back around. The big positive from these moments is that, usually, whatever game pulls me back in becomes an instant favorite (like Tears of the Kingdom last year). In the meantime, I just kind of spin my tires on a sports game, or Slay the Spire, as they both fill my weird desire for something familiar while also needing to feel a sense of progression. So, hopefully, one of these new big releases can fill the void you are feeling.

But really, it sounds like it's just time for another Balan Wonderworld playthrough.

Welp, looks like I gotta check out Nour & Slay the Princess.

Loved the write-ups. Can't believe Gibdos got best little freak over Kilton/Koltin though.

Man, @tolkoto singing Dominic the Donkey for only two seconds unlocked wild childhood memories for me.

@onemanarmyy: So, in Speedstorm, each racer has their own set of pickups/weapons, and I know the majority of Donald's are close proximity weapons since he's more of an attacker. I've been playing mostly as Mulan who seems to have a healthy balance of boosts, close range and far range attacks, but to make things more complicated, and something Mike didn't mention, is that most items perform differently depending on if you press the use button, hold the use button or hit the use button while holding back on the control stick. This can make the "shell" equivalent either a green shell by just pressing the button, a red shell by holding it, or you can fire it backwards.

I think the game doesn't do a great job explaining all of that. So a lot of people don't even know you can send out a homing shot on a lot of items by just holding the button down. So if you're in 2nd, it's kind of up to you to bring the 1st place player back to the pack.

@badsmalltalker: yeah, I agree with this take. I'm enjoying the content and really liking the random pairings we've been getting, but it would be nice if there were any stakes for the player to care about their performance or for the other person on stream to actually take notes and pass them forward.

@onemanarmyy: There are multiple speed options in the game: Fast, Faster and Fastest (I think that's how they name it. It is something basic like that). I think they were essentially playing on the 50cc in terms of Mario Kart speeds. I've found that in online matches, usually one person pulls away from the pack and because there is no blue shell equivalent rubber banding, they never face any obstacles and just coast the whole race.

This stream was such a blast to watch, especially how close it got at the end.

I can't wait to see how this changes with Tears of the Kingdom. After watching the fellas discuss the preview, it seems like creating vehicles to race across the map a la Wacky Races could be great.

Also, Mitch is so over.
