Eden of the East ended recently and that was awesome. I definitely recommend that.

You should youtube some bleach fights to see whether or not the later parts of the show may interest you.

If you liked old Gundam series, try Gundam 00. I enjoyed 00 a lot more than I thought I would.

Also, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is obligatory.

To be fair, if you have a low tolerance for all things cute and adorable there really isn't much for you.

Death Note and Bleach are pretty horrible, but those are hardly an indication that anime has become more "emo". If anything, anime has become more focused on pleasing otaku with fanservice and moe.

Family Guy is my favorite anime.
