@artisanbreads: I tried to go back to Witcher 3 myself about two days ago(I'm about 70 hours in and only got rid of that curse at kaer morhen about 5 hours ago so I know I have quite a bit to go) and it was actually really tough.
The dialog and quests are really amazing sure. But you still have to do a lot of combat and a ton of running around and neither of those things are actually much fun. Add to that the fact that the game can still have a bunch of issues with quests breaking or having annoying problems and I can totally see why they aren't enjoying it much anymore. It's not an easy game to come back to after the zeitgeist has worn off.
@mlarrabee: The books set up that Oni was making new spartans way before 343 got their hands on the game. The entire point of the new spartans is yes they don't have to have been engineered that way, but as a result they aren't even close to being as strong, fast, or smart as the ones who were originals. Spartan IIs are the last ones that are legitimate super soldiers and the new guys owe most of what they are to the suits.
I got this game about a week ago and I basically stopped playing it after about 3 campaign restarts. That first tutorial level is totally fine, but after that anything above difficulty level 2 is brutally difficult. There is just way too just stuff that can screw you up and the fact that you can eventually be screwed over to the point where you have to restart your campaign is a huge bummer when the game itself is so cool and fairly fun to play.
It's still a pretty good game and I'll pretty certainly go back to it, just be wary if you aren't great at twitch shooters because this one gets rough fast.
The combat in this game looks legitimately terrible. That attack range limitation alone is enough to make me not want to buy or play this game. The fact that pretty much every encounter is like 2 people vs your 4 and you barely make it out seems absurd.
I'll point out just in case it hasn't been that it's safe to "return to ACC" at literally any point while in free roam regardless of anything you've done since a checkpoint. The moment you do any pending fultons will be auto-recieved the moment you hit the button.
