Just finished my third re-listen to this podcast, still one of my favorite pieces of content in GB history. Makes me sad it will never get a follow-up, given all the recent staff changes.
When he opened the pause menu with the inventory, skill trees, dumb looking character standing in the middle of the screen, I got major Cyberpunk vibes. Like a cross between Cyberpunk and an Assassin's Creed game.
@theonewhoplays: For me it’s only for certain types of games, like games with a lot of down time (MMOs) or if they’re turn-based so I can stop playing and watch for a little bit.
Anything that requires constant concentration (like shooters) I won’t pay attention to the video at all.
This was my first factory-building game, the first time I saw a video of zooming out to the galaxy cluster scale I was instantly sold, I didn't care if I've never played one of these before. If anyone's looking for a first-timer's perspective/review, it was initially a little challenging because there's almost no structure and I had no idea how to progress or anything. But after 4-5h I was very comfortable with the mechanics and having a great time.
Also, I was struck by how different Vinny's factory was to mine, and that got me thinking about how cool it would be to compare peoples' "first factory" from these games to see how peoples' brains work differently.
@deathpooky: You can absolutely automate shipments between planets in this game. After 12h I had just completed my starter planet's space elevator, which needs transport ships (and another space elevator on another planet) to start shipping resources/components back and forth. This is all based on some automated interplanetary supply and demand system that I couldn't even begin to comprehend.
I hope if they decide to bring this feature back, they play the Xbox version via back-compat, which properly scales the text and UI.
As is, they’re basically playing the worst version of the game (PC version without mods). I played the game a few years back and got widescreen running fine, but could never get any menu/UI scaling mods to work.
While I like the fact that GB is finally giving ray tracing the attention it deserves, part of me feels like Brad is just rubbing it in my face that he was able to get a 3080 (I’m fully aware this is irrational).
