Some of ya’ll are bent up out of shape because a guy who was very clearly burnt and checked out and was barely in anything for 2 years left quietly. Like who tf is left to give him a last hurrah when a. old bomb are no longer here so it’d be awkward as hell and b. it’s not even a last hurrah? He’s still around but more!

Not to mention you can gain a perspective on why he left quietly by reading the last review on this very website or listen to his first solo podcast. This demanding of answers is really immature when it’s this clear.

@ghost_cat: This is where I am. Still subbed so fast to his patreon but it was obvious he was stretched too thin here. It happens, we all get old and management can be crushing and life un-affirming. Glad he got out.

Pretty excited for what the future holds for GB tbh, just hope they start getting loose again. It’s been a bit too on the rails and predictable the last couple years.

Edit: Also, why not get fucking weird with the website? Give us something to come back to, leverage what is now one of the main unique propositions of GB - a dedicated website? Otherwise ya’ll should just go to Twitch.

@superslidetail: The chemistry can absolutely be done remote. Waypoint is testament to that.

You just need the right energy going in.

It gets me access to the archive. I’ll probably continue subbing forever because of that.

I feel Jeff and his literal team of producers though have the knowledge and talent to produce interesting things but I don’t know what they’re getting paid to do at the moment and I genuinely feel bad for them. Being in a workplace where you’re kind of just spinning your wheels creatively isn’t fun.

At the same time, having a year of low impact work after the decade + of incredible output and the last 2 years of the pandemic is probably more than deserved. I just hope they have a plan for ramping things up.

Metal Gear Acid 2 and LocoRoco, easily.

Sped up versions of Final Fantasy Tactics and Valkyrie Profile would be great, too. They’re good versions of those games just with terrible loading. Might be redundant though if they’re appearing in the PS1 offering.

Looking at my collection, there’s not that much on the PSP I really need to play again. Vita though...

Hello I’m 6 and finished TLOU2. I really empathised with Joel’s choice and how Ellie reacted to that reveal, they were like a father to each other and the torment they must feel inside must have been a lot to bare. They were the last of themselves amongst themselves and how Ellie transforms into a kind of Saturn eating his child where the child is Joels memory and Saturn is herself I felt was very subtle but still well drawn. Was very relatable because my daddy is like a father to me too. AMA.

Is this what you wanted? ARE YOU SATISFIED?!

There’s definitely stuff I’ve really enjoyed but I think the only things worth the money and effort have been:

  • Wandavision. Forgiving some trash moments in the final couple of episodes
  • The Avengers. Aside from being really well made, as an ambitious reboot to event cinema there’s no denying its cultural impact
  • Infinity War. Finally they go for something meaningful. I just pretend End Game didn’t happen and the whole cycle ended here
  • The first Thor movie. It’s not high art or anything but it’s a prefect one of those and really fun. Stylistically they’ve been riffing off this films template since for all their second tier films and shows

Everything else is either a pastiche (and I include Winter Soldier in that) or a riff on those 4. Not saying you can’t enjoy other things in the canon! But if we’re talking about if the whole cycle was worth it... on volume and creativity, absolutely not. Even as entertainment I can’t say yes because I find the majority of them really boring. But hey, I’ve seen (and groaned through) most of them so what do I know?

Edit: I can’t get behind the Thor: Ragnarok takes in here. I found it to be the worst one yet ha, just all the things wrong about these rolled up into one film.

@bardalien: I’ve got one of those Wega HD CRT’s next to it on the right - weighs I think 88kg? Took us a half hour (and a lot of yelling) getting it from downstairs into its final position... I’m dreading moving it again.

The little one is perfect though and is my favourite of the 2. I super recommend going to the effort to find one of that size, just can’t play PS2 upwards as well as a bigger set imo. Gonna get it converted to component soon too.

@monkeyking1969: Nah just a simple hdmi (connected to a macbook) to composite converter box. You can find them online but there’s definitely different quality ones floating around. Took us a couple of orders to find a box that did it good enough.

Saying that, I did try feeding my PC to it to play Dragon Quest 11. Unfortunately though, getting my graphics card, let alone the game itself, to downscale to such a resolution was a massive pain and it looked pretty bad (if still bright and pretty).

The best thing (aside from older games) to play on it has been old movies and those long rainy day city walk videos you can find on youtube. Very chill.

@the_nubster: Even streaming through a browser video player and converter box it looks nice ha. The smaller CRT’s are really magical like that.
