@the_nubster: I've noticed that as well, apart from the NBA 2K series. I'm by no means a game designer, but I wonder if having to build a game from scratch on new tech, with the type of physics and AI that sports games require means that the first few iterations skimp on the graphical fidelity. If you look at developers like Naughty Dog, Guerrilla Games, CD Project Red, etc. they usually still with their same game engines and tweak them when needed. The Madden team's first Frostbite game was Madden 18.
The GBE crew really should keep an old Windows 95/98 PC handy just for these old games. To record/stream, just use the Framemester (via VGA in) to upscale and convert to HDMI.
Well considering that I do not play Far Cry games for their story, this game sounds right up my alley. Far Cry has always been about what kind of open world shenanigans I can get up to, especially in co-op.
This is probably the first time I have even been at complete odds with the GB crew on their GOTY choice. Last year, while I wouldn't call Hitman my game of the year, I could at least see the argument (it was 5th on my list). However, this year's GOTY has me at a lost for words. While I had some mild enjoyment with PUBG, I just do not see how this game is GOTY material. I've tried to love it, played 20 hours, even got a Chicken Dinner, but after all that I felt like I have experienced what the game had to offer and quickly jumped off it. It's a very average game wrapped around a neat concept, but for me that concept wore thin especially after accomplishing that Chicken Dinner. On a side note, the thing I've noticed with this game is that many of the fun "moments" I had with the game with friends were often the same type of moments I would experience in a Battlefield game.
With all that said, they are entitled to their opinion even if it doesn't come close to mine :).
