Really disappointing. The movie felt like something that should happen in between Star Wars movies.

One big problem I had is that Johnson didn't feel the need to answer any of our questions. Whose Snoke? Doesn't matter, he's dead. Will Rey or Kylo switch sides? No. Will Luke train Rey? Nope. Rey's parentage was made out to be a big deal, so does it matter to the plot? Nope, they could have just established her parents were nobodies right off the bat and nothing changes.

A lot of the plot felt unsatisfying. The Rey training scenes, if you can call them that, felt pointless as we didn't see any character growth from her. The dark-side tempting made sense in Empire, since you know Luke can end up like his father. If Rey's parents are nobodies and she never actually seems tempted to the dark side outside of some throw-away lines by Kylo, the recreation of those scenes don't provide any plot value. Snoke basically admitting to manipulating Kylo and Rey felt silly too. The Emperor wanted to turn Luke, and Snoke just wants to kill Rey and Luke (for some unknown reason). Lame.

There's plenty of other nit-picky stuff, but there just feels like so much that it brings the whole movie down. The Finn/Rose plot seemed to only serve the purpose of getting most of the rebellion, including Luke, killed. Why wouldn't (Holdo, I think?) have just told Poe and everyone else that they planned on fleeing to the planet that had a base that they'd been looking for in the first place? Why did they care about fuel when they were a few hours at normal speed away from where they were headed? Why didn't the Falcon just fly back and blow up Kylo's command ship before his confrontation with Luke? They saw the Rebel base getting its butt kicked, so why wouldn't they go back to help them? How did Finn and Rose not at least get captured when they crashed right at the foot of the AT-AT's? The light-speeding ships into other ships was cool, but why wasn't the plan to do that at the start?

Plenty of other problems, like Luke's character as a whole, pacing issues, pointless characters (I cant believe they treated Phasma the same way in this after how people felt after TFA), etc. Honestly, I left it feeling like I had just watched the worse Star Wars movie. Even the Prequels, for all their faults, did a ton of world building. This one just felt... boring.

I haven't played the newest Call of Duty, but isn't the progression system in Battlefront II objectively better? Is a big part of the backlash not necessarily the system but the confusion of how roundabout it is?

In a traditional Call of Duty game, you need to achieve X level to unlock a specific perk. This means you'd be forced to level up many times, and earn many perks you don't intend to use, before you can earn your desired ones.

In Battlefront II, each Lootbox gives you enough Crafting Parts to unlock a Starcard, or perk by another name, of your choice. So each time you earn 4,400 credits (or 2,200 if you buy a Hero crate), you essentially "level up" and can purchase a new perk of your choice. While grinding matches can take awhile, the heft of low-level achievements mean that you earn plenty of Lootboxes, or "level ups", right at the start. In the Quicklook, Dan has about 220 Crafting Parts, meaning he could unlock 6 perks of his choice that he has chosen not to.

This means that if you want to unlock the Killstreak Infiltration perk for your sniper, you can do it right off the bat. Want the Ion Turret for your heavy? You don't need to unlock 3 different grenades you won't use until you get it. Want to unlock a more damaging main cannon for your Starfighter without an ability upgrade your always forget to use anyway? Go for it. When you account for achievement points, the random cards you get from Lootboxes are actually just a bonus compared to the Crafting Parts you get.

Does the system have problems? Sure. Duplicate cards should upgrade your card level, not refund you some credits. Level 3 and 4 card upgrades become very expensive and can require quite a bit of grinding (perhaps the only case where spending real money would have made a big impact), but the difference between level 1 and 4 cards, especially the Trooper ones, are never substantial. The inability to buy Hero cards with Crafting Parts feels like an oversight. Could the game do a better job of telling you that buying multiple level one cards is what allows you to unlock extra perk slots for a specific class? Sure.

But on the whole, isn't the ability to pick whatever perks you want right off the bat instead of waiting to hit an arbitrary level requirement the better way to go?

Where in this post does it state that this person is "alt right"?

What happen to the good old days when people like this were just called "jerks" or "assholes"? Politicizing a person's viewpoints is part of the problem, not a solution.

People never were "just jerks", though. The impulse to be purposefully cruel or divisive has always had some sort of ideological background, whether it be racism, misogyny, classism, whatever.

Hello! I have been a frequenter of this site and a Premium subscriber for longer than I care to remember, but have recently become extremely frustrated with my inability to navigate the website.

Example: I'd really like to take a look at the text post for the Day One GOTY winners, but since it's not on the front of the site, I cannot figure out how to find it. Plenty of other videos that I've seen are in places that I seem to have no easy way to navigate to.

Am I missing some major navigation page? Am I just an idiot? A bit of both?

Longtime listener/reader and Premium member, but I have a lot of trouble finding things on the website.

Video segments like TANG seem really nicely organized, and it's very easy to browse through the segment lists and watch them like that. Is there any system in place like this for other videos? I'd love to be able to browse Patrick's Spookin' videos or Metal Gear Scanlon, but I haven't found a better way besides searching for them and hoping the one I want pops up on the list! Thanks dudes!

Well, longswords were never really used in combat, and were mostly used in organized 1v1 fights (with "fight schools" teaching it as a specialized version of fencing), so they would most likely transport the swords/carry them in their hands instead of sheathing them on their body.

With saying that, I can't think of a historical example were swords were ever actually sheathed on the back for any reason, especially considering that swords mostly served the same role as modern-day pistols and would need to be quickly drawn in an emergency. Besides, a soldier would typically wear his equipment/shield on his back, carry his spear and, if he had one, wear a sword on his hip along with water/etc.

So the answer is obviously hip since carrying swords on your back is a very impractical and 20th century type thing.

Beers has an aggressive style, but was right on substance. Fish has chosen to take a public role in video game development, and so he has opened himself up to public scrutiny based on his work. If Beers, as a member of the media, takes a "if you're going to keep quiet and not play by the unspoken rules, then we will do what we can to freeze you out of the game until you start playing by the rules" stance, then that's great for him. He's demanding accountability from game developers who make their professional work public.

All Fish had to do was ignore it or basically give a "fine then, boycott me, I don't mind". Instead, he threw a temper tantrum. Making one successful indie game doesn't elevate you to the level of being beyond criticism, and if he can't take this, then he either doesn't belong in the industry or he belongs out of the public sphere.
