The Metroid Prime games are super great still. I played them for the first time a couple years ago through the Wii collection and they've aged marvelously.

I honestly really liked Amplitude. The soundtrack is very weird and niche but I like it. Also all the bonus unlockable tracks of songs from other indie games are really cool too. The game also has a pretty great look and feel.

I also really like Hyper Light Drifter, am working my way through Salt and Sanctuary and digging it, and Inside is okay.

On a side note this might be the year that I may have sadly sort of fell out of love with puzzle-solving games. Used to be, and kind of still is, my favorite genre but with this year I felt like Goldilocks "The Witness was too difficult, Inside too easy" I had a hard time finding a good puzzle game that fit me just right this year.

Second side note: Thumper is good too, although I think Amplitude is the more fun overall of this years rhythm games.

I think television and sitcoms have tricked a lot of people into thinking that everyone should always be with a group of three to five friends all the time always. That's not usually how life works, and that's okay. Also people don't really notice or remember things as well as we think they do. If, in the unlikely chance, that someone you knew saw you alone in a bar, thought that that was lame, and judged you for it, that person definitely would not remember the whole event an hour later. I think that a lot of social anxiety kind of stems from a fundamental human self centered-ness where we overestimate how much time people spend looking at and noticing us. If worst comes to worst and someone notices you and you have an awkward exchange, chances are in five minutes they won't think about the exchange every again. If you saw them the next morning they wouldn't be like, "Oh remember when you were alone last night, haha you're a loser.". You honestly have nothing to worry about.

Also everyone's been in your situation before. It's a time or place where you feel like you should be with people, but don't have good plans or people to be with. That's part of being a person. It's fine. Go to a bar, or go see a movie or something. I empathize with your anxiety, because I am very much the same way, but everythings okay. Noone will judge you nearly as much as you think they will, I promise.

So I've never played any of Destiny, and don't plan on investing a lot of time in it. I just wanted to get the cheap original version so I could play with a couple friends who also just got the game tonight. More of an excuse to chat with some friends who live a few hours away than something I want to get all the dlc for. So I searched on psn and it looks like you can only buy Destiny:The Collection which seems to have everything and is 60 dollars. Am I missing something here? Does vanilla destiny no longer exist via digital download. Do I really have to pay 60 dollars for a two year old game?

I feel like Dan is someone who kind of begs you to hate him, but you can't really because hes so good at his job. He's been very good at coming up with some of the most creative interesting recurring segments on this site. Demo Derby is super great (although largely because I love the dynamic between Dan, Jeff, and Drew), Mario Party Party as been a bit of a case of diminishing returns but the first handful were honestly hilarious and wonderful. Danswers was interesting, if for no other reason than as a platform for Danny O Dwyer to talk about his life. Dumb fun heel turn stuff like the UPF where Dan lost a streetfighter bet to Jason and had to "leave town". He sometimes drives me nuts, but Dan was exactly what the site needed when they needed it. I'm very curious as to how the east coast office will change with him around. I find it kind of bizarre/ironic that Austin Walker (super intellectual and analytical almost to a fault) is being replaced with Dan (the exact opposite). We'll see how it goes!

I've honestly been surprised by how good the ps4 has been about discounting digital releases. The weekly sales often cover a large range of different games to the point where often when I'm thinking about buying a particular game, recent examples being assasins creed syndicate and rise of the tomb raider, chances are theyll be part of a pretty good sales price within a couple weeks. Also the PS store has been pretty okay about price drops for older games outside of sales. For example the new Ratchet and Clank dropped from 40 to 20 dollars when it was still relatively new. Its definitely not as flexible as a physical stores pricing (there is kind of a tier system of new game 60 dollars, last years hot game 40 dollars, much older game 20 dollars), but its much better than I thought it would be. My main problem is that there are weird outliers where games that noone is really thinking about get forgotten by Sony and they kind of forget to price drop it. For example: Diablo 3 is still 60 dollars on the PSN store. This mostly happens to games which are not in the public mindset and kind of get forgotten or left behind by sony (similar to how 50 cent Blood on the Sand is still 60 dollars on 360 digital stre I believe). Overall, though, I'd say maybe 50 percent of the time an older game will be close to matching physical prices through either a price drop or a sale. This isn't as good as physical of course, but its much better than last generation, and much better than I expected.

There are sort of two different things going on in Uncharted 4. Firstly you have a standalone globe-trotting adventure story about pirates and car chases and other Indiana Jones shenanigans (but now prettier). Secondly, you have a sort of commentary on the nature of having yet another globetrotting adventure with these same characters who are initially presented as older and more settled down. Without playing the other games it would be easy to understand and enjoy the first part of the game. The second part, however, would lose some of its impact. The idea of an older more emotionally conflicted Drake isn't as interesting if you don't have the contrast of how he's behaved in the past. Sort of like how the idea of an older Solid Snake in MGS4 wouldn't have much impact if you hadnt played MGS1. Or, for a better analogy imagine jumping in to Indiana Jones with the 4th one. Of course Uncharted 4 is much better than Indiana Jones 4, but both try and make a point about how the character is older and has changed which would be lost without watching the other movies.

Honestly, Just play the older games first. The Uncharted collection is I think 20 dollars now on ps4 and has all three of the first games. The first one can be skipped if you want, and the third one is kind of redundant (but still good). But really really you should play Uncharted 2 before you play Uncharted 4 (I honestly think 2 is a better game anyways).

Now that MVC3 is finally on current consoles, who wants to play online. The online community is unfortunately pretty barren right now, so lets try and make a community here at giantbomb. My psn id is drcox347 if anyone wants to play.

I just want weird characters with their own weird nutzo mechanics like Phoenix Wright or Dark Phoenix in mvc3. For this I think a size changing antman would be really neat. Maybe do something weird with a Rocket Raccoon/Groot combo character where they help each other out. Also, related aside, I really really hope deadpool appears in some way.
