There has never been a point where I enjoyed this game before, so I'm hoping that Season 3 can change that. I just don't think that it will, as my most basic issue with the game is how it handles combos.
1. As far as I knew, League of Legends IS the most popular game in the world. I know that they hit the most played and popular game back in 2012 for PC, but since then, I'm pretty sure they went on to just take over everything.
2. Patrick Miller was originally with Riot, but then left and went to Radiant Entertainment...and he is now back at Riot.
3. Riot was very recently fully bought-out by Tencent Holdings, who also holds a minority stake Epic Games since 2012. Given that Epic is releasing Paragon as well as Gears of War 4 (which I'm sure will be positioned with a eSports flavor for the online multiplayer function), it could be interesting to see if Riot is the only thing they buy out and whether or not Paragon starts to become any form of genuine competition against League of Legends.
4. The rumors that a fighting game based on the Rising Thunder engine starring League of Legends characters has already begun swirling, but what's more interesting is the rumors have started resurfacing that Radiant could be working on League of Legends: Supremacy again, which was a completely finished card game that Riot had buried. With the popularity of Hearthstone and Hex, I don't see why Riot wouldn't try to take their free-to-play knowledge into the world of card games. I also don't know how well something like a League of Legends card game would work out, though. There's kind of a limited number of cards you could have.
The only Zelda games I've enjoyed after A Link to the Past are Majora's Mask, The Wind Waker, and Minish Cap. Everything else just felt like it was trying to be super different or super similar.
I never did get around to watching beyond the first episode of Arslan, but I heard good stuff about it.
I've been curious about this, though. One Piece Warriors 3 was excellent, Hyrule Warriors was the dopest shit, and my buddy and I have been playing the fuck out of Warriors Orochi 3 for the last few weeks. I could always use some more Warriors gaming!
I have no interest in this, unfortunately. Kudos to anyone that gets to do an article, but I come here for the core crew. Giant Bomb, for me at least, has always been more about what interests these gentlemen who run the show, what they talk about, their opinions and ideas, and the niches that they enjoy. Giant Bomb has always been a personality website to me.
So yeah, it's a cool move and all, but it doesn't really affect me as a reader until I see more stuff from people who freelance than people who are actually staff of the site.
Also, I don't know if it's been pointed out yet or not, but I really hope that guest contributors and freelancing doesn't make this all go south in the same way that Kotaku has gone.
Can't wait to watch this...once I've finished the game myself, that is...
Edit: Any ETA on the review?
Putting the finishing touches on it now, it'll be up this morning.
Even though I haven't played it like you have, I'd be curious if there is some parallel symbolically between having a gigantic and gorgeous open world around you but your only interaction in the game seems to be with games and tablets...
...much like the real world is gigantic and gorgeous, but we typically find ourselves only interacting with games and tablets.
Nonetheless, having @jeff play this from the start like that has me interested in the game, and I became far more interested once you showed more of the world itself. I'll definitely be picking this up!
