This is exactly how I feel. After hours leveling up to 50, only to be met with hours and hours (literally hours) of tacky story quests before I could even get into content I had paid for. I ultimately did complete all of it, and I found the Heavensward content to be really fun. But man, those story quests keep coming and it just makes me feel like all they are doing is padding out content. The most fun I have in the game is playing with other people, not having to find hidden moogles for the third time in a row. I also cannot stand the story line. I mean it is an MMO, I literally see thousands of other players everyday, but somehow my character is the chosen one? The writing is just bad, and the voice acting I can't even listen to. I just skip each cut-scene right away.
That being said, I am currently in a ritual of not playing the game for 3 months, then re-upping and playing extensively for a month. I've found that this usually quells my anger about it. I still really do like the game, just wish they would focus on either things that people enjoy or do something different.
