I really thought The Leftovers (HBO) knocked it out of the park with the 2nd season. (Looking forward to what they do with the 3rd). The first season seemed pretty hit or miss for a lot of people, but I think it's hard to deny the impact from the performances of Carrie Coon, Regina King and Justin Theroux and the thought provoking script from Lindelof and his writers.
Holy shit. The Leftovers was fucking fantastic, I'm so glad there's going to be a third season, albeit its last. They completely transformed what was an oddly compelling show into something truly incredible. The episode with the hotel, that finale. More people need to be talking about this than all of these superhero shows.
I really like Flash, I like that Arrow is less like its third season, I enjoyed Daredevil, I thought Jessica Jones was pretty good, but other than David Tennant's excellent performance as Kilgrave was a pretty by the numbers TV drama. (with some superpowers on the side)
Kimmy Schmidt was hilarious, pretty much on par with the best of 30 Rock. South Park has been very, very, very good this last season too. Not its funniest, but the arc running through it about political correctness gone mad is spot on. PC Principal (BRO!) Internet adverts as news... Ninjas getting mistaken for Isis, brilliant.
And then there is Sense8 which is hugely flawed, but very, very good. The scene with Lito in the empty pool was probably one of the most powerful things in anything on TV this year. I really hope this returns, I'd love to know where this all ends up. I love how light the Sci-Fi elements are, it's truly like nothing else, and I like all of the characters. When the Wachowshis bring the action, there is some movie quality stuff, but the action is never, ever the focus, and that's really for the best.
