But on the previous topic, most people agreed that God of War, Black Ops 4, Dead Cells, Celeste, RDR2, Tetris Effect, Monster Hunter World are locks for the top 10. The other favorite seems to be Into the Breach. So if anyone is looking for something to play in december before goty, there's a strong list.

Guys, we had a thread of GOTY expectations where we were talking about the games that everyone should check it out based on what we think has a chance of making the list or at least be in the discussions.

The last posts on the discussion were about: it looks like Jeff doesn't care for God of War, will that have big impact and give a chance for Dead Cells and Tetris Effect? As well as what games will Vinny and Ben make a push for?

@totsboy: I think you guys are putting alot of weight on Jeff's taste. Last of Us won in 2013 despite him not liking it. You're also forgetting that Vinny and Ben loved GoW (I can't remember Vinny being hype about any game this year), and they are great at GOTY debates, they even did a Spoilercast about it with Dan. I think Dan even got the platinum. The only problem is that GoW will win GOTY everywhere, and I never see GB having that commom pick.

@mocbucket62: I think God of War has a much better chance then Red Dead, because of Dan's final verdict. Dead Cells would be awesome, and it's a consensus pick, I think just Abby wasn't praising it. It was Jason's 2017 GOTY, Brad and Ben called one of the best Action-Platformers ever, Dan, Jeff and Vinny liked alot. Tetris is kind of in the same boat as well, but it has the "more of the same" argument, despite the same being a great game.

@mercutio123: but God of War was the first time I saw the crew do a Spoilercast about it, between Vinny, Ben and Dan. And I don't recall Vinny loving any other game besides that and maybe some "smaller" one like Subnautica.

@dgtlty: I can see Hitman 2 not even making the list for being "more of the same". I think it has to be God of War also, with Tetris Effect, Black Ops 4 and Dead Cells behind it.

@mocbucket62: I agree with your top 5 and I think Celeste would be the number 6. I played every game you mentioned except for Obra Dinn, I'm not sure Hitman 2 will make it. But what a great year.

Oh, I forgot about the Switch games, since I don't own one yet. Octopath would for sure make my top 10, and I would love to play Mario Tennis Aces, but not top 10 material probably. Smash probably wont make for the time of release, I personally don't like it. Starlink won't have much of a chance also.

@glots: I don't think people will react as badly as it was with DD making the top 10. But I personally would be disappointed if Tetris ends up number 1, even tho is maybe the best version of a classic game, it's still that same game. I can see being top 4-5.

But my expectation for the top 10 is:

God of War, Black Ops 4, Tetris Effect, Red Dead 2, Dead Cells, Celeste, Monster Hunter World, AstroBot, Dragon Ball and Into the Breach. Roughly in this order also (not that I agree).
