Games 100% Beaten: The Hall of Vanquished Foes

These are games that I have completed 100% according to my own flawed standards. This means every achievement or doo-dad I can get but not necessarily things that are just time consuming or have too great an element of pure luck. Examples being "Kill eleventy billion players".

This is in roughly chronological order it gets fuzzy.

  • This game was epic. I got it from my aunt when I was a but a wee lad. Every single character and area in this game had it's own uniqueness and brilliance. I played it completely with a walkthrough as I was too young to understand the puzzles. I would call my aunt up and ask her to search the internet. I need to play this game again. Completed in 1999?

  • Good memories of playing this game when I was a youngin'. I still remember getting all of the masks and that crazy evil moon face. I don't remember much about the rest of it though. I do remember it was the first game I ever truly beat though and overcame my obsession of endlessly restarting. Probably completed it in 2000?

  • I have awesome parents. My dad recieved the republished version of this game as a gag gift for christmas and he let me play it knowing the jokes and the sex would go completely over my head and it did. Completed in 2000?

  • Seriously awesome game. I remember I ran through it and tried to save every scientist that I possibly could and then ran through it again killing every scientist I could. Woo hoo! Completed sometime in 2001 maybe?

  • Fun game. I remember it was incredibly short compared to the original though. Completed sometime in 2001.

  • Freaking amazing game. I remember completing the game three times in order to unlock the secret ending. The insanity effects were always entertaining, including pretending to delete your saved games and the villain was a major badass. Add in some surprising twists and you have yourself a good game. Completed in 2002.

  • I have good and bad memories about this game. Getting all of the character's final weapons is one of my proudest gaming achievements but I would never wish it upon my worst enemy. Dodging lightning 300 times in a row is just plain evil. And Blitzball sucks. This game also contains my record for continuous a paltry 14 hours straight. I should be ashamed when compared to real gamers. Completed in 2002?

  • Oh Neverwinter Nights. Fenthick was the biggest tool in video game history. I had my Half-orc barbarian Bulthar Gredax celebrate his death by seducing his lover. It was fun to run through the game with the alternate dialogue for stupid characters. Completed in 2003

  • I could replay this game forever. I'll leave it at that. Completed sometime in 2004?

  • "Rise and shine Mr. Freeman. Rise and smell the ashes" Easily one of my favorite games ever. Ravenholm is freakin' sweet. Completed in 2005

  • This is a game that I'm sure not many have heard of and not many care much about. It was a fun RTS where you wandered about the world map and tried to take over the world. You also had a hero that would level up and you could take him level to level with you. In endgame though the Hero became too powerful and you could rush a level with him by himself. Completed in 2005

  • Some of my best gaming memories were made with Halo and the LAN parties I would go to. Everything about Halo has already been said a million times by a million others. Halo is good. Completed in 2005.

  • My favorite game on the Gamecube by far. Resident Evil 4 was a thrill ride the entire way through with the castle section being my favorite. The chicago typewriter made running through the game ridiculously fast and fun. Completed 2006

  • This game has endless replayability and despite it's flaws it is one of my favorite game of all time. If you add the Stainless Steel add-on the game really shines through. Crush Milan! Trust me, those bastards will always betray you. Completed a bajillion times in 2007

  • I showed that red bastard what's what! The labyrinth beneath the cathedral gave me many nightmares when I played this game as a foolish tot. Now I can sleep easy knowing that Diablo has been defeated. At least until the sequel. Completed in 2007

  • A "meh" expansion pack to a great game. It does introduce Deekin however, who is one of the best sidekicks in gaming history. Completed in 2008

  • A very fun expansion to a great game. Possibly even better than the original. The higher level encounters proved to be very exciting! Yay! Completed in 2008

  • Wow. The only game I know that has committed suicide halfway through. the first half of the game is near flawless. The plot is maybe a little weird but you forgive it because it is so well executed. The last half of the game takes your suspended sense of disbelief and brings it crashing down by introducing completely ludicrous unnecessary twists. I was in shock by how quickly the game managed to take a 180. Completed in 2009

  • This game will destroy your friendships and your family all in the name of a little thing called force gems. I have fond memories of completing this game the night before I was leaving to live in Japan for a year. We completed it with only about an hour to spare. Completed in August of 2009.

  • I hate this game. The masochist inside me forced me to complete all 300 of the games insipid missions as well as the pointless Judge missions and to get all of the useless secret characters. Never play this game. All the fun of Final Fantasy Tactics is stripped away and replaced by ridiculously easy gameplay. Completed in February 2010

  • I went back and completed this game now that I was older and able to actually play RTS games without cheats. Surprised at how easy it had become compared with my childhood memories. Good game with an entertaining storyline. Completed in February 2010.

  • Very fun expansion! I loved the challenge of completing the "Destroy the Protoss" in under fifteen minutes to unlock the hidden mission. Really looking forward to Starcraft 2 now. Completed in March 2010.

  • This was a lot of fun to go back and see where the origins of the Warcraft series are. It was also interesting to see how the RTS genre has developed with the original Warcraft requiring the player to play very defensively. Completed in April 2010.

  • "Agents are GO!"

Traveling back and forth on the subways of Japan this was my game of choice. I became surprisingly addicted to this game. Especially surprising because I am not much of a rhythm game player. This game inspired me to try other titles such as Rhythm Heaven. Completed April 2010.

  • I still find myself humming the opening music to Warcraft 2 all the time. This being one of the earliest games I ever played as a kid it was great to see how it has aged. It turns out it has held up very well. Completed April 2010.

  • I liked to skip classes in my Japanese high school and go play Ninjatown in the bathroom. The quirky characters and strategic gameplay made it a good diversion. It isn't a very long game but it kept me sane when going through another terribly boring class would have forced me to commit seppuku. Completed May 2010

  • One of the hardest games I have ever beaten. Some of the levels of N are evil and two in particular were cruel beyond all measure. The bonus Atari levels in particular seemed to enjoy wringing cries of frustration from my soul. I'd recommend it. Completed May 2010.

  • A very charming game with some very mindbending puzzles. I can't explain it but playing the game just made me feel happy. And that's a good thing. Completed May 2010.

  • An interesting expansion pack and Blizzard's first attempt at building a story inside a game and not just in the manuals. The missions here are quite hard but unfortunately rely too often on exploiting errors in the enemy AI. An army of trolls and deathknights should not be thwarted by a Gnome flying machine hovering just out of reach. Completed May 28, 2010

  • Needed a small break from the frustration of Rhythm Heaven and Mario Kart DS. A good diversion game with a quirky cast of interesting characters. Enjoyable but sometimes the trials would be frustrating if you thought ahead of what the game wanted you to be thinking.

    Started: June 3, 2010

    Completed: June 11, 2010

  • Good game with a great reward system that pushes you to get perfects on all the stages. Some of the tunes are really catchy too! I think Blue Birds and the "onbeat/offbeat people stage" were my favorite stages. Fill Bots 2 and Moai Doo-op 2 can burn in the flames of Hades. Scratch-o, Hey!

    Completed: June 19, 2010

  • I don't know how I feel about the Phoenix Wright games... I really want to like them but a lot of times it feels like you are just doing guesswork or the correct response is painfully obvious. I still like it I guess... I dunno.

    Started: June 11, 2010

    Completed: June 29, 2010

  • I started this old game on the plane ride to Japan and I finished it on the plane ride back to America.Fun fact: this is the first Mario game to feature Wario. It also features an obscenely brutal last level.

    Started: August 17, 2009

    Completed: July 1, 2010

  • Bought it and played it on the PC. I can't imagine how much money it would have taken to actually play it in an arcade. Fun animation with many amusing deaths for poor Dirk the Daring. I'm sure some of those rooms were designed just to steal money from hapless gamers.

Started and completed: December 26, 2010

  • Got it as a gift when I was a little kid but I never played it until now. A very charming game with some fun puzzles. Other puzzles fall into the classic errors that the genre suffers from. I like the game but I would NOT place it in the best of all time category.

    Completed in July 2011.

  • Completed a grand campaign as the mighty nation of Luxembourg. Very fun game although a feature to slow down and speed up time is sorely needed.

    Completed in August 2011.
