@hunkulese: You're definitely not alone. I'm a huge Metal Gear fan and, at times, a Kojima apologist (he sure as hell doesn't make it easy), but this is probably the first Metal Gear I'm more excited to play than watch. I mean, I like that he's going for it, but he doesn't understand subtext so when he tries to tackle this kind of material, it just feels like exploitation. The end of GZ was pure shock value and he forgot to do that to a character we actually cared about. Instead it just felt gross. Sometimes that's fine; going the grindhouse road isn't inherently bad. But when you trying to make some sort of statement, the shlock gets in the way of that. However, the idea of walking into a base Metal Gear style and seeing the enemy patrol units are children sounds potentially fascinating from a player psychology stand point. Will that detail effect someone like Dan who just walks into a room and immediately blows everyone away? Will most people just try and tranq them?
So basically, I'm will ya, but we'll see. For whatever reason, I'll give Kojima the benefit of the doubt. I'm expecting to be let down in that regard, though. Regardless, can't wait to actually play the game.
p.s. Man, fucking Paz, right? Everything about and around that character is the worse thing Kojima's done. Her whole existence from the beginning has just been about objectifying her and abusing her for no good reason. She's not a fleshed out enough character for me to actually care that all of this is happening, so it just feels mean spirited and fucking gross. She's literally the poster child for misogynistic fantasies. Kojima's inability to realize that death in storytelling is meaningless unless the character has some sort of set up is just bad storytelling.
