EA COO Peter Moore announced that the Medal of Honor franchise has been put "out of the rotation".

"The game was solid, but the focus on combat authenticity did not resonate with consumers," EA COO Peter Moore said. "Critics were polarized and gave the game scores which were, frankly, lower than it deserved. This one is behind us now. We are taking Medal of Honor out of the rotation and have a plan to bring year-over-year continuity to our shooter offerings."

EA Labels president Frank Gibeau said EA missed the mark, and the marketplace, with Medal of Honor: "We're in a hit-driven business where it's about what you can build in a certain period of time and really deliver for the marketplace, and frankly we missed on Medal of Honor. And we take responsibility for that."

Well, at least that's one less modern gritty brown FPS on the market. I hope this doesn't mean yearly Battlefield releases, unless they get working on a new Bad Company. Although, I guess whatever Respawn is working on is going to replace MoH.

It mostly just comes down to aggression and impatience of people trying to win in the first corner. Kind of hard to avoid the temptation of trying to pass many guys at the start.

As long as that temptation is there, the problem will always exist.

Also, are you sure about metro - I think publishing rights were available but THQ didn't own the IP.

So apparently it all sold for $71.3 million. That wasn't much more that Clearlake's initial offer.

There are rumours that EA got the license last week.

According to Kotaku, a letter sent to THQ employees confirm the following:

• Sega agreed to purchase Relic
• Koch Media agreed to purchase Volition and Metro
• Crytek agreed to purchase Homefront
• Take 2 agreed purchase Evolve and
• Ubisoft agreed to purchase Montreal and South Park

The sales hearing hasn't concluded, these are all some grounded rumours. We'll get official results within the hour. IP's and studios are being bid on separately.

Seems like Relic to Sega is official according to one of their employees:

A Relic employee on Twitter confirms rumours that Sega has bought Relic at the THQ auction. It is unknown whether their IP's are Sega as well.

I'm anxious to see how COH 2 gets affected by this.
