awesome melee ninja battle royale! 0

Naraka Bladepoint is a really incredible mashup of the Battle Royale genre and old-school melee combo combat mechanics, like Street-Fighter-II, Soul Calibur, etc. The result is pure magic. It's like "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, the Videogame". For $20, you simply can't go wrong. The rest of monetization is vanity micro transactions and loot-boxes which confer no gameplay advantage. There is no pay-to-win here. You might as well stop reading and go buy the game right now to learn for yourself.....

great when played free, but do not spend money on Riot products 0

League of Legends is a fantastic game when played truly free, as in do-not-spend-money. At least not more than a trivial $5 to buy one skin or something. The problem with spending money on the game is that Riot has compete control over banning accounts without cause, no matter how much money is spent on the account. They have chat bans, so why permaban accounts? The answer is so they can get addicted players to spend more money on new accounts. This is the only logical answer. Otherwise they could...

best hardcore ranked PvP game, hands down 0

League of Legends (5v5 Summoner's Rift) is hands down the best hardcore ranked PvP game out there.By hardcore, I mean, if you are going to play at least 15-30 hours a week while you are active. If you are going to play 2 hours a week, Ranked Summoner's Rift may just frustrate you (and others). If you want to casually play a few hours here and there, I recommend playing ARAM, or unranked (normal) games of 3v3 Twisted Treeline or 5v5 Summoner's Rift.By best, I mean that it has the highest skill ce...

poor early game.. existing souls fans may find the struggle worth it 0

TL;DR - This game starts out very awkward and clunky for players who have never played games in the Dark Souls / Monster Hunter genre. Existing fans of unforgiving dodge/parry/iframe combat are treated to a cool anime style, attractive character customization, and the interesting blood code system. Playing on PC mouse-keyboard is very clunky and rough.I found the first ~8 hours of Code Vein play completely awful. If you learn only one thing from this review.. you should know that many of the badl...

great third person looter-shooter, lacks end-game depth 0

TL;DR - Warframe is a truly great free-to-play (or at least free-to-try) third person looter-shooter. If you enjoyed Diablo, and you like third person and fast action, you should give this game a try.Smash TV meets Tomb Raider, in SpaceAt it's core, is a PVE action combat game, that puts focus on fast paced arcade-like movement mechanics amidst lots of shooting and spell-casting.Curiously, the early game experience does not do an amazing job of introducing new players to the many jumping, vaulti...

Great action mmo and pvp arena 0

Don't be diacouraged by the F2P moniker. Today games are all becoming shades of grey between cash/sub/f2p. BnS is top notch. -- The monitization actually feels very similar to wow.. Because you want to buy the premium monthly sub if you like the game. Just like wow, they sell vanity items in the store, but IMO the in game costume drops are better. The shop costumes are kitchy out-of-lore things like a santa outfit. As a bonus, if your interest in the game fades, you can stop paying premium a...

A modern quality mutiplayer RTS 0

I grew up on WC2, SC, TA, and C&C-RA. Lately I've played lots of SC2 ladder, drifting between plat and diamond 1v1 zerg, though I play mostly 2v2 format. If you enjoyed those games, and love challenging multiplayer, you can stop reading now, go buy it, and lose the next few days (or months) to fun. If you need more convincing, read on...Grey Goo is a shot of fresh air into an otherwise one-note genre now that SC2 ladder raised the quality level for multiplayer RTS. It has a high-quality, tho...

Aion: pay-by-the-hour design pervades the game 0

Aion: Tower of Eternity My Play Experience: At the time of writing this I have both a cleric and a sorc to level 30 (level cap is 50). I've experienced the two instances available below 30 (NTC and FT), and spent some time in parts of the Abyss. I'm critiquing the game as of 11/9/2009.  Summmary:  Aion tries to provide a world where PvP is not a tack-on, but an integrated part of the game. This turns into a blessing and a curse. Overall I find the game more appealing than Warhammer Online, an...

EVE is attractive, but has too little reward-cycle for me 1

As of March 2009, EVE Online is undeniably the most successul space-mmo. Their attractive spaceship designs, lighting, and lens-flare grace the advertizing on many game-related websites. The game has been dubbed 'space opera' by many, possibly because of the opera-like cadence of missles and lasers firing from ship-to-ship during battle. It offers some unique gameplay unlike any other game, however, for this author and fan of MMO, RPG, and RTS games it falls short for one glaring reason, the gam...
