I love Christmas music so I had my radio tuned to the local 24 Christmas music channel while I was out shopping one cold Kansas night when this song came on and it is on that day that I discovered the true king of aggressively horrid Xmas tunes:
It also helped that back then I might get at most... 4-5 new games a year. So, you had plenty of time to just bash on one repeatedly and it was also a major bummer when you decided you absolutely needed a game that turned out to be hot garbage.
My main strategy with building relationships has been to get to the point where I can crank out mayonnaise which isn't really worth very much but a lot of people seem to like just fine. You can just dump it on people you come across as you go from place to place. But, it's not necessary at all- however you want to play it, play it and have fun!
I believe mine was Oregon Trail II once all the schools in the district got Win95 machines. In fact, I'm not sure I was even aware of the Apple II version until way too much later.
Wasn't there a X-Men game on the Genesis that asked the player to "Hit the reset button" and they meant reset the console itself or am I just imagining that?
I spent $90 on Mortal Kombat Trilogy right after I got a N64 because I had Christmas cash burning a hole in my pocket, I wanted more N64 games than just Shadows of the Empire, and I was young and stupid. I don't really like MK now, and I didn't even like it then. I just wanted to spend money because I had it.
