Grubb is so right that there are very few games quite as horrid as Bubsy 3D. Sure, Sonic 2K6 is irredeemably bad and anyone who tries to seriously defend it as a remotely good game should not be taken seriously – but in comparison to Bubsy 3D it's not so bad.

also damn I loved this video's ending.

The vehicle stuff in ToTK looks cool, it seems as if they looked at how people were stretching the engine/mechanics/world of BotW (i.e. octorok balloons, stasis launches, etc.) and are formalizing that stuff into more accessible mechanics. If the direction of the game is looking at all the requests and weird exploits the community were up to and expanding on that in creative ways, I'm even more excited.
That being said I am somewhat cautious like others have said - in around six years of development time, they seem to have added some floating islands and few new tools for Link to play with? There's gotta be a substantial "hook" for me to go and explore largely the same world again besides maybe that there's new shrines in place of the old ones. I mean - the major story stuff in BotW was just…not good and having more of that is not exciting to me (the VO in the trailer continued to be that crummy sounding stuff from the previous game) but maybe they're just really holding out until release to really give us what is so uniquely cool about this game.

Overall this was a great Direct – there's quite a few things to be excited for this year. Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Ghost Trick, Illusion Island, Samba de Amigo among them. I hope the GBA selection adds games like Ninja Five-O and dare I say possibly somehow magically some day...Mother 3. Oh and we need Monkey Puncher on GBC.

I thought the Death of Stalin was pretty cool, but I doubt Ruben Ostlund has Armando Iannucci as a major influence. I do agree though as great as Triangle of Sadness is, its joys are in its raucousness and the wit of the character interactions. The satire is often not as substantial as it could be, though I thought the movie left you with enough of those ideas formed well enough to think more about later. R.I.P. Charlbi Dean.

As for Top Gun 2, that film is pretty amazing even with its many obvious faults. The suspect politics, the NES game level plot, the romance subplot and love scene that might be the corniest and most chaste I've seen in a movie in ages, some of the dialogue being inescapably cringe - the movie still totally works. It's about the assuredness of the filmmaking, that massive cinematography that is always soaked in light and crystal clear, and of course the magnetic star power of Tom Cruise. Now that is a movie about movie magic and the joy of flight, with just enough charm and weight from Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, and of course Val Kilmer.

oh and I should probably play more of Rogue Legacy 2. Horizon 2 I enjoyed for the world/lore and story, but damn I can't recall a game I've finished where I've so completely recoiled from the combat/gameplay so much besides maybe the first Horizon game. A massive skill tree and still it all did so little for me. I may just begin Horizon 3 on like super easy mode to essentially bypass the combat stuff, unless there's substantial changes to just make it more...fun? I have never quite located why I've been unable to fall in love with the combat of those games.

As always, these lists are entertaining Rorie.

I wish Jan held off on doing this QL after the opening, because you actually get to see what the game is not long after the time of this video ending.

While the production values leave a lot to be desired and it's still pathetic in terms of performance, textures, and general technical aspects - there's a lot more to the game he didn't even get to touch on. It's pretty rad how big the world is, how many Pokémon are out there to catch from the jump, the open ended structure, and some of the other new mechanics.

This game is pretty fun and has some good ideas underneath the pretty horrendous technical issues, Nintendo need to fundamentally change the way they manage this franchise because no one can think that this is okay over there. GameFreak need to hire up a ton of new engine people or something because this shit is horrible. Sure, the cynics will come out of the woodwork saying Pokémon is for kids and it will be a cash cow even if the games are bad. Yet there's got to have been enough of this shit somewhere in that company and the arguments on the other side have got to be getting louder and more convincing for someone to throw money at this problem. They should be making enough by this point right? Because we all know the Switch has big games that look and run a hell of a lot better than this. I'm glad I didn't spend money on this at least.

I'm so confused as to what this is and why it is here, and something this aimless and bland (bland as in it just seems to be a guy making "funny" voices and saying random crap forever, to me that is very repetitive and boring, that can go for maybe 5 minutes not two hours) it just does not hold my attention.

As someone who just finished house sitting for about a week and brought my PS5 over to play some Ragnarök, I have to say the PS5 might be the worst designed console (in terms of the chassis) I have ever owned. That thing is just so big and strangely shaped that it is a huge pain in the ass to fit in any bag that isn't huge...oh and it has that stupid horizontal stand. Just make it flat with agreeable, rounded edges. That thing needed a slim console from day one. I think it's neat they wanted to make something that looks unique, that stands out in your entertainment center and all that jazz...but they just went too far. Practicality needs to come in sooner for a mass market consumer product.

Now I am conflicted giving Sony another $500 just to correct these awful design decisions of just a couple years ago...oh and the front end UI on that console is still clunky and unintuitive. Ugh.

They should have to do a single player run of something like Sonic Shuffle or Crash Bash, none of that Mario Party shit.
