@scotto: Prioritizing areas that will be flown around the most by the playerbase is what I assume the biggest reason but it kind of creates a self fulfilling prophecy. They're the most detailed areas so more people will gravitate towards them and if people keep gravitating toward them they'll keep getting the most attention.
Mind you, I'm not saying they should have spent more development time in Accra than London but when 11 (out of 40) of the handcrafted airports the game launched with are in the US while the entirety of South America has 3 I can't help but feel a tinge of disappointment.
The game is still incredible and even the worst looking areas still offer jaw dropping visuals, though.
That's a great story with the doctor. He seems like a swell guy.
Least Favorite: I wish the team would focus on updating parts of the world that are less common. The first three updates were Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom. I would love to see proper updates for Africa, South America, the Middle East, and the rest of Asia.
That's my biggest peeve with the game as well. I imagine the satellite data they have from Bing Maps isn't as accurate or updated as often for, say, São Paulo as it is for New York but it'd be nice if they tried to shine more of a spotlight outside of the US-Western Europe-Japan axis.
I really hope Erica’s right and Devotion eventually finds its way back to stores because whenever someone talks about it that just makes me regret even more the fact that I didn’t buy it when it was on Steam.
Good to see the old adage "nothing stops the Bombcast" remains true. Given the current situation it would've been understandable if you guys didn't record one but boy am I glad you did because I (And I imagine many others who are also locked up) definitely need the distraction.
I’m glossing over all of the other things that make Disco Elysium a landmark, a real before/after moment for games of this sort. I’d need several more pages to talk about all of that.
I would love to read those hypothetical several more pages one day because your brief writeup about DE on this list was absolutely captivating.
