I thought I didn't care about the points.

I have less than 600 achievement points. In part because getting points is not one of my priorities when playing a game. Also because I had this bad experience/confusion when signed on to XBOX live. I had finished Assassins Creed, Gears of War on hard and Dark Sector. All that was lost.
I would never play for more than an hour or so just to get an achievement. I so much didn't care about the points. Or so I thought.
Recently, after finishing GTAIV on the Xbox, I moved to Mass Effect on the PC. After an hour or so of playtime, a legend appeared on the screen that read: Achievment. After a little research on the web, I realized that there are games than you can play on the Pc that add points to your Xbox live score. Mass Effect isn't one of them. When I finish that game, nothing is gonna be left of it.
There's when I realized how cool it is to have achievements, a global score of games you have played.
It's not just a measuring stick against other people. Not a way to claw your way up to the top of the leaderboards. It's my gamer's diary. My Life as a Gamer Memoirs.
I like going into the dashboard and opening the achievements tab. I like remembering the games I have played, and the moments in which I unlocked certain achievment. It's like watching the pictures of that cool trip to the beach.
Long live Achievement Points.

Edit: spelling.
