Glad they didn't budge on the Halo/Psychonaut placement. TBH Psychonauts (1 or 2) don't belong anywhere near a top anything list, but it would have been a Saints Row 3 level of travesty if it got anywhere higher on the list. I've always been of the opinion that if you are playing video games, gameplay is king, and if you place that much emphasis on story/feelings, you should read a book or watch a movie.
Blows my mind that FF7R was universally well regarded, and pretty high on both Ben and Jan's list, and it didn't even make it in the top 10. FF7R was EASILY the best overall game that came out in 2020, and it isn't even close.
8 years later, it still triggers me that they spent so much time trying to get to the pyramid in the Middle Ages in the previous episode without realizing they can travel through time, only for them to immediately fly over the accessible present version of the pyramid saying "Oh we've been there before"
The biggest problem with this episode, and run, is that they didn't at all experiment with Techs, or other characters. Ayla makes the beast nest and Giga Gaia one of the easiest sections in the game, because Falcon Hit is just so goddamn OP here.
Well this is it, the official death of any GotY excitement. This combined with the complete disregard of the fantastic premium content (Ranking of Fighters, Demo Derby, Game Tapes etc.) in favour of trash like the DK64 feature, and Abby shrieking pretending to be scared of games, I think next year I will not renew my subscription which I have had for years. It's a shame, since GotY was something I looked forward to every year, not so much anymore
It is extremely frustrating that he keeps going back to the pistol, in a very clearly shotgun heavy area. I don't even think he has even used the sniper/assault rifle
