@rorie: Phew, that's what I figured. Thanks for clarifying! Feel free to lock this thread. I wasn't trying to rile some folks up. I got my answer and am good to go now :)
@efesell: I really should start trying out all the characters more. I've admittedly just stuck to Alphen up to this point, and let the Auto AI handle the other party members.
I've never played a Tales game before, but the reviews and demo footage caught my eye on this so I decided to give it a shot. And I gotta say, I'm surprised how much I'm digging it. It admittedly started a bit slow, but they do a good job of layering on more and more to the combat, and it continued to grow on me. Same goes for the story and characters as well.
I do find some of the voice acting and dialogue to be a bit spotty (particularly Rimwell's). Do folks recommend switching over to the Japanese VAs?
It's been a month since the last episode. I assume the show is just on a brief hiatus since Danny was away for a couple of weeks? I'd be pretty bummed if the show was quietly discontinued without any heads up. I know some folks weren't into an endurance run of a games/series that already got lots of coverage in the site's past, but I was enjoying the semi-sentimental Tamoor/Danny ramblings while they played. :(
I am very interested in some of the games shown at the event (Spider-man, Wolverine, KOTOR, and God of War) but it's also hard to get too hyped up when the majority of them were cinematic trailers for games that are seemingly years away.
I've had mine since February or March and the only real major issues I've had are hardlocks requiring a full powerdown by unplugging the console itself (the power button wouldn't respond). This happened multiple times on Ratchet and once or twice on Demon's Souls as well.
I've also had instances where the dualsense just stops sending inputs when I'm at the home screen UI despite the controller working fine in-game. The only fix is resetting the console.
Otherwise it hasn't been too bad.
Then again, I use my XSX way more than my PS5 so it's possible I'd run into even more issues if I used it more often. I wish that wasn't the case, as I loved the PS4, but with the issues listed above and also finding the dualsense to just be clunky instead of "immersive", that's just not the case. It's a console that's reserved for exclusives and that's it :(
