They always had the reputation of having better free flowing gameplay over EAs FIFA. But over the last 3-5 years EA has made their gameplay just as good and more importantly kept updating the graphics and the presentation, something Konami didn't do. So its no surprise that the series is now dead and EA has taken over.
I disagree. I think PES 18 was better than FIFA 18. There was a point where Konami got lazy and let FIFA pass them and they admitted as much, and 17 and 18 were big steps in the right direction. Whereas gameplay wise it feels like EA are the ones getting complacent again and the gameplay feels stagnant like back at the turn of the century. Them losing the CL license is hardly a big deal because it spent most of its lifetime without it and got ahead on better gameplay and at the end of the day that's what should win out.
