I really like the addition and am also really glad it was added after I started a timed campaign.

I picked this up last week thanks to positive word of mouth from Rob Zacny and Austin Walker, plus Vinny's Quick Look with Rorie and follow-up stream. I loved it from the start, but admit the timer added a another obstacle or stressor, but I came to appreciate it very quickly. If I could just go out to the yard and very slowly and carefully dismantle a ship with near perfect cuts and taking my time, I don't think the campaign would feel as "gamey" as it does. The almost Herculean struggle to erase your debt wouldn't have the same kind of pressure since you wouldn't face multiple rounds of daily fees trying to complete work orders. Every shift in this mode is a slow-motion plate spinning act: what can I get from the ship's outside, what resources are inside in terms of O2, thruster fuel, or repair kits? What can I get done in 15 minutes to most efficiently use my time and set me up for the next shift? That's where I find the challenge in Hardspace: Shipbreaker.

At the same time, as soon as I saw the details on this update I literally said out loud at my desk to no one: "oh fuck yes!" I want to be clear, I don't think playing this new mode is in any way lesser than the original campaign, it's just different, and I know there are going to be times I want to just take a ship apart slowly and methodically without those added pressures. I am super glad both modes exist.

Now if I could just figure out why I didn't get credit for salvaging "fuel" when I sent those tanks to the barge...

@mrhaydel: Went and grabbed it since I'm not actually as busy as I thought this morning - unnecessary but appreciated as always.

Related question - is the ability to read a calendar an important skill for a project manager? Asking for me who thought he had way more meetings today.

Spike is a little disappointing at 299 bells per turnip, but island is open with code LRN09. I have to be AFK to work for most of the morning, but feel free to drop on by.

Tagging @mrhaydel too since they expressed an interest.

If anyone is still working the turnip market, turnipprophet has me 95% for a large spike tomorrow morning (PDT) with prices between 190 and 570. The other 5% is still a small spike with prices in the 130-180 range. I'll plan on opening up and leaving the Dodo code here as usual.

Missed the better prices this week, but my island is in for a small spike this afternoon (PDT). I’ll post price and dodo code for anyone else looking to offload and make a modest profit instead of taking a loss.

Only 156, but it beats taking a loss.

Dodo code: GSNGS

I’m AFK.

@ralphmoustaccio: Yes! I'll swing by with a brick - I was just thinking I'd have to go to the turnip exchange but would much rather visit and tip and fellow duder.

Prices dropped to 141 at noon, so I've closed the gate. Y'all continue to amaze me - I was AFK most of the morning for work meetings, but when I did get to check back in there were NMT or bags of bells just laying around, including one right in front of Nook's Corner that anyone coulda helped themselves to. This is a real decent community.

@djhicks1 I have had some good luck, but I think it seems a bit exaggerated since I've had a few good weeks relatively close together. I had some real downers early on, and am probably due for another run of them. I also admit I stopped watching some weeks when I was out of the running for a Big Spike from prediction tools and had already benefited from other generous community members sharing their good prices.

Once again, multiple sites are predicting a big spike for me tomorrow morning, with prices between 188 and 564. I'll open as close to 8:00 PDT and leave my gate open while AFK and working. No entry requirements, please just leave by the airport. Tips never expected but always appreciated.

Gates are open, turnips being bought at 130 in case anyone wants to both stargaze and panic sell to avoid a loss. I may go AFK from time to time, but have fun, wish on stars, and make yourself at home.

Dodo code: CLSED (gates closed)

Heading to bed soon, so gates are closed. Glad a few people were able to come by, hope your beaches are full of Star fragments tomorrow. For anyone curious about what to expect when their island has a meteor shower: I was able to easily wish on 290+ fragments in just over and hour? There are lulls, but it really is a pretty constant stream of shooting stars.
