This is a great list and a great read. I do wish you’d taken a look at the Wii U and it’s pro controller. They put the face buttons below the right analog stick, which completely freaked out my muscle memory and I mostly stuck to my Wii classic controller when playing.

Nintendo also rereleased the Gamecube controller for the Switch (and on Wii U for Smash 4).

I haven’t finished the game, but I’ve played a lot of it and I am surprised by how much I like it. I haven’t really played an AC game since Black Flag, so maybe if I had played Origins I would like Odyssey less, but I didn’t and I do like it a lot. I really like the setting and I definitely find wandering through Ancient Greek history appealing, especially during the Peloponnesian War.

I also like that assassinations are just every way you can stick a spear through someone and pull it out the other side.

Congratulations on completing the game.

I definitely think VII is the best of the PS1 games. It has its warts in form of stupid mini games, but it also has the best characters. I played it as a preteen and it kindled my love of RPGs. Btw, I happen to think VIII is the worst game in the series (not familiar with the Japan-only games though).

Final Fantasy X should not be skipped, as it is something special. It's ambitious, it gets a ton of milage from it's voice actors and it's more memorable than any Final Fantasy since. I also think that's where the traditional FF combat system reaches its peak, which I guess is why they abandoned it in FFXII.

I wish you all the best on your journey through the world of Final Fantasy.

If I recall correctly, Cait Sith is a decent magic user, but not much good for anything else. After Aeris, he's probably the best to build as a pure magic-user. Cloud is a potent magic-user as well, but he's good at everything. It's worth noting that equipping materia will usually lower melee stat while boosting the magic stat. Equipping Ice and Fire on Cloud will weaken strength, while boosting his magic stat.

I don't really see the upset here. They're adding more dlc than they thought they would, so they're upping the price, while still holding to their word that all who bought the season pass get all the dlc at the initial price. I know I'd rather pay $50 for the Fallout 4 season pass than for Arkham Knight.

As for the $25 dlc, did any of you by chance play a little game called Oblivion or it's sequel Skyrim? Did you perhaps also play The Shivering Isles "Expansion" for Oblivion, which was available as dlc for $24.99, or Dragonborn for Skyrim which also cost $24.99. The big $25 dlc accompanied with smaller dlc packs is what Bethesda does, and they're usually good value if you want more of the game. If you don't want to play more, just don't buy it.

I will say my biggest reservation is that it sounds like the story dlc follows the story points from the base game very closely.

Wow, the console issues are that severe? I've had the game for 29 hours now and my in-game clock says 15 hours and 15 minutes. I love it, but I also loved Skyrim, New Vegas, Fallout 3 and I actually played Oblivion for over 1000 hours. Haven't had much trouble yet, except for two pretty abrupt crashes, but the auto-save is pretty generous. It's running smooth, but my PC is pretty beefy.

It's a little funny hearing Brad fawning over the GeForce 260 and it's awesome 896mb VRAM. Now we're 6 years later and the most used card in the steam hardware survey has 4092mb (3580+512mb if you want to be picky about it) and you can get the 8184mb R9 390 for $20 less than that.

Of course, I also remember spending about $130 on a 256mb card 10 years ago and documenting the stark difference in texture quality in Battle for Middle-Earth my new card could pull off on a forum.

Edited for inaccuracies.
