Resident Evil 4 made good on what Resident Evil 2 started. RE2 was already an action game where you didn't have to worry about item management because there were more ammo and healing items around every corner, but still had the static camera and tank controls holding it back so it was just a kind of shitty action game. I'll never understand why it's so beloved when it's such a dumbing down of what Resident Evil 1 achieved.
@xanadu: I mean it *does* have an agreed upon definition, people just use it incorrectly. Like how literally is used by some people to mean figuratively.
@genericbrotagonist: Jeff said "a couple of weeks", and a couple means two so I can see why he'd think that but people frequently use it to mean a few.
I own an Xbox One X solely for all of the backwards compatibility stuff they've been doing. (Well, tied with a pricing error getting me it for cheap enough). Next gen I have zero interest in buying the new PlayStation because mine was basically just a Yakuza machine this gen, and the series seems to be finally coming to PC. If Sony can finally do some good stuff around their incredible back-catalog of systems that makes it a better experience than using emulators (which given the state of PS1 and 2 emulators is entirely doable) I would buy one just for that. If not I doubt I'll bother with a PlayStation ever again. Xbox I find much less likely I'd invest in even if they went backwards compatible with it since I already have a system that can run original Xbox games at 4K. Maybe if it's powerful enough that all 360 digital games run at 4K as well rather than the case by case basis the Xbone is going for I'd get one if it got cheap enough. Either way though I'm already spending money on games in their digital ecosystem which is the important part for them.
If they can commit to a FF13 spin-off for over a decade and even "promote" it to being the next numbered entry in the series, they can commit to an extended dev cycle on a remake of their most popular game ever. Especially when they're cutting it up into multiple, presumably full priced episodes.
On the one hand I'll miss the discounts, but on the other hand I transitioned to all digital for Switch and get multiplats on PC, so there was only a few PS4 games a year I was actually saving on. Gonna finally cancel my Amazon Prime once it runs out though which will be nice.
Only games I ended up pre-ordering were Fist of the North Star and Kingdom Hearts 3.
