It sucks that the hoard mode Halloween event is the point of comparison when there is literally 3 Archives event story missions already in Overwatch with cutscenes, a ton of dialogue (that changes every run), unique enemy units and 4 difficulties. They have been releasing these missions once a year and have easily been the highlight of the yearly events. I believe the developers even mentioned that the limitations of their current engine mean that those missions have been harder to make than they wanted but people have absolutely expressed a desire for more of them. "Overwatch has no meaningful lore" thing is almost a running joke in the community at this point, as up until now, none of the story content has moved things forward. You don't really need to be deep into Overwatch to find that there was a precedent for this to happen.
