Japanese TV show Pokemon Sunday, has a major announcement for May 10th, and signs do point to the long-awaited Gold & Silver Remakes on DS.
The official site for the show promises it to be 'a worldwide first announcement and a worldwide first big scoop'. One major clue the show's producers may have provided is in the colour of the Confetti-filled Disco globes on the show:
Pokémon
The Pokémon franchise has spawned numerous titles and spin-offs, spanning several generations of games and has an animated series that spans many seasons.
Gold & Silver DS Remakes On The Way
Personally, I thought Gold & Silver was Pokemon's low point. Still, it'll be nice to what changes they'll make.
Imo, pokemon was ruined after the first originals as there were too many pokemon but they were all the same with different names, I miss the charizards and dragonites, now everyone has that weird fire chimp instead =(, I still love you dragonite. Dragonite + hyperbeam = one of the most powerful moves ever! (he had one of the higest special attacks)
I never played these games. They were recently recommended to me, but I backed out of purchasing them because I don't know anybody that still plays them. Online with this makes the prospect more appealing, added to the fact I can only assume both games will come on one card.

Nintendo needs to make it required that you be online 100% of the time while playing, so people can't hack Pokemon anymore. They also need to put-in a ladder system and anonymous match making for high level meta-game battling.
But... they won't. Nintendo doesn't understand online and I guess they don't care that people can hack any Pokemon they want, even rare event ones, and even put abilities on them that shouldn't be allowed.
It's really lame having to trade friend codes with random hackers in forums just to get your battle on against hacked Pokemon. I'm about done with Pokemon until Nintendo makes it a PC MMO with zero hacks.
You will be waiting in vain for that to happen Luke, it's just never going to happen. Nintendo make family orientated games that people can enjoy easily. The PC platform does not fit into that ideal of theirs, despite most people owning a PC in the home, and kids being more at ease with it these days.
I wanted Animal Crossing on Wii to be a MMO : (

wh- wha?
"Linkyshinks said:I doubt they'll do that. They'll release two games like they always do. They did that with the GBA remakes of Red and blue. As for what they'll call these, perhaps "Shiny Gold" and "Sparkling Silver"? OK, those both suck. I dunno.

"MattyFTM said:I'm sure they'll have the crystal content, and more extra content, there'll just be two versions, with slightly different pokemon. It's a marketing scam to try and get people to buy two copies of the same game, and It's worked well for them so far, I don't see why they would stop it."Red said:Maybe, but I'll be very sad if they don't have the extra Crystal content."I think they'll just put Crystal on it, not Gold/Silver.I doubt they'll do that. Thank Science! Gold & Silver are the best pokemon games ever made- the high point. They introduced a boatload of new pokemon, but without making them horribly stupid (I'm looking at you, SPOINK!) Ho-Oh and Lugia were awesome legendary pokemon. I hope they include all of Kanto & Johto in the D&P graphics...
"Sold! Crystal is my favourite pokemon game. They added so much cool and new stuff. Two worlds, 16 badges. So awesome."Being able to go back to Kanto was awesome. I remember that game having so much endgame content...add in online and I'll be playing it for quite a while.

That doesnt stop people from simply creating level 100 creatures, but you'll have no problem compteting with them if you also have a level 100 creature.

"Yeah, I read about the bad eggs on Platinum, which is a step in the right direction, but the major thing they still have not stopped/blocked is putting illegal abilities on Pokemon. Even on Platinum.
One example is putting Wonder Guard on a Spiritomb or Sableye. If anyone can figure-out what this combination can do to both of these Pokemon, you'll understand how much bullshit this is. The only Pokemon in the whole Pokedex that should have Wonder Guard is Shedinja.
An idea I have that Nintendo could implement is to create a huge database of every single possible legit combination of abilities and Stats/IV/EV Maxes of every single Pokemon, even special event ones that almost can seem illegal but are not. Then every time a player went online, it could check every single Pokemon on their game cart and delete all illegal ones that can't possibly exist in the database. Nintendo could then update the database whenever they released new event Pokemon, putting abilities on them that normally didn't exist in the original release.
Why Nintendo doesn't do this, is beyond me, but I guess they really don't care to spend the development time on creating a database catering to like the 5% of players who like high-level battling. An anonymous match making ladder system would just add to the awesomeness!
I just wish Nintendo would take the high-level meta-game of Pokemon seriously, for the hardcore players... we'll see what they do with next generation of Pokemon, I guess.

I'll get around to it.

if this is real... then i think i will hold back the money I was saving for Platinum for this...
2nd generation was the best...
Gold and Silver were the best ones! They tried so many new ideas with the game that they pretty much threw out afterwards. Day and night? Check. A radio with giveaways and special information based on what day and time you listen to it? Check. Genders and breeding? Check. Your Pokemon's emotional attachment playing a role? Yep. Two whole worlds to explore, including ALL OF RED AND BLUE?! Checkeroonie!
I have drifted away from Pokemon following Ruby/Sapphire, but Gold and Silver were the best games in the series, so I may actually pick this up (or make my brother get it so I don't have to spend cash money). I can just quit after I unlock the National Pokedex so I will never have to see all the crappy new pokemon that came out after those games.
