I was going to ask about how Pokemon could evolve without microscopic Pokemon to evolve from. But I guess in the logic of this universe, evolution is just a thing that happens suddenly once in a while. So maybe there were just rocks floating in space for a long time and then one just *poofed* into a Geodude.
Everyone knows that scientifically evolution requires battling enough to raise your level and sometimes an additional item. So the rocks must have been smashing into other rocks to level up.

Does that mean if I flick skittles into each other for long enough, one of them will eventually evolve into a Jigglypuff
I don't know about the English translation but the OG Red and Green Pokemon games in Japan referenced an animal(Indian Elephant) and real places(South America) in the pokedex.
