The Pak 40 is a 75mm anti-tank gun developed around 1939 and put into production around 1941. It initially had a low priority, but during the invasion of the USSR, the appearance of Soviet tanks such as the T-34 and the KV-1 raised the priority of anti-tank guns. By 1943, the Pak 40 became the standard German anti-tank gun until the end of the war.
