So I havent booted up my 3ds in a while, but hearing that nintendo was re-releasing many of the classics from the SNES, I had every intention of buying pretty much all of them except they appear to only be availible for the new 3ds, have they given a reason for this at all?

@kingbonesaw: They need to work on their emulation software then, shouldnt draw that much CPU power, and the games are 20+ years old in some cases, hell an analogue watch could run those games.

I believe it is true. When the New 3DS first came out modders realized it could properly emulate Super Nintendo games which the first 3DS didn't do very well.

There was a giant NeoGaf thread when the New 3DS was released claiming the New 3DS was perhaps the best place to play Suepr Nintendo games on the go. This was far before Nintendo came out with these virtual console games.

Emulation needs more power than you think. Nintendo won't put out an emulated game unless it runs 100% and many handheld Super NES emulators skip frames.

Emulation is far more CPU intensive than most people believe.
