The sequel to 2007’s wildly successful first-person-shooter Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 continues the story of American and British soldiers fighting Russian ultra-nationalist forces.
"so uh. is Infinity Ward ditching the "call of duty" name all together?
i say its a good decision. they don't need to be constantly associated with the bad games treyarch keeps pumping out.
"
I doubt it. There's too much brand recognition among casual gamers associated with "Call of Duty" already, so to drop that part of the name would ensure that they sell less copies than they otherwise would. If Halo Wars hadn't been called "Halo" Wars, would it have moved 1 million+ copies already? Probably not.
I've heard zero people call COD4: Modern Warfare just "Modern Warfare," but I've heard plenty "Call of Duty's." People don't even call COD: World at War just "World at War," they call it "Call of Duty 5." Dropping the COD name would be a bad move because the name is very recognizable despite many never hearing of it until COD4 came out.
And Modern Warfare is a horrible name by itself...
