I'm loving the game, but that effect is extremely obscuring!! It first happened in th 1st level on th turret when the ambush happened, th amount of shots that hit me made the screen go red and I couldnt see, it wasnt enjoyable or anything it felt stupid, just waiting to die.
I just kept my finger on th trigger and sprayed everywhere because their was no other option!
I would honestly think the game was a completely flawless masterpiece of th genre if they hadnt put this in.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Game » consists of 22 releases. Released Nov 10, 2009
The sequel to 2007’s wildly successful first-person-shooter Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 continues the story of American and British soldiers fighting Russian ultra-nationalist forces.
Not a fan of the blood screen!!
I didn't like it in either game, but I'm fairly used to it now. It does get in the way a bit though. =/
" @DOUBLESHOCK: But the thing is, it'll cause your death when you would have otherwise lived. "Yeh thats my point! In th middle of a firefight you just keep getting tagged and th rifle jumps around everywhere, you follow th onscreen indicator to where th fire is coming from, only to realise theyre far away enough to require looking down th sights, so you are trying to shoot someone quite far away while th rifle is darting around every 2 seconds, whilst having th screen in a huge blur!!
I TOTALLY get th point of this, artistically, but when the game is trying to portray you as a 1 man army in some scenarios, or a quick-thinking battle hardened soldier, spraying around randomly whilst being repeatedly gunned down isnt fun @ all!!
I have yet to figure out how Infinity Ward thought the blood on the screen looked good. It looks like chunky Powerade
suffice to say the whole blood thing was balls.
The blood effect is the only part of the game I can say just kinda sucks, it doesn't look like blood and it makes it so fucking hard to see shit and it feels like your playing 50% of the game with strawberry rubbed on your screen cause I mean you get shot...ALOT.
They should redo it to make it look nicer (I honestly think the current graphic just looks awful unlike the rest of the game which looks shockingly good) and be less obtrusive so I can actually see what I am doing.
It's a good idea to make it so you want to get shot a lot less but it's very obnoxious. If you get shot once or twice your screen is covered in blood! Love the game but they went to far with the blood.
They also made it so when you have night vision goggles on and blood splattered across your screen nothing is fucking visible. It's impossible like that
Gives me an idea for next years haloween costume. I'll stumble around with Swim goggles filled with red jello. People ask, who are you? I'll just say, I'm hit, get to cover.
I'm okay with it obscuring the vision, I mean, I'm sure that after a guy is shot he isn't in the most rational state of mind, probably makes him screw up a bit. Probably a bit distracting, getting shot.
I do have a problem with the fact that it looks like strawberry jam. It looks like you got blood on a camera lens.
I hate the blood screen, it ruins the game for me. You can't see anything at all and I can't belive they made that decision to distract and annoy you since you can't really see your reticles in an ambush.
My opinion is that the blood screen is a good edition. It tells you you're about to die and gives you a small penalty for getting shot up before you regen. Plus, all told it is not THAT distracting.
My big issue with it is that it looks like water dyed with food coloring just splattered the camera, totally breaks the moment: "What the hell! Someone just threw Jello at me!"
" On what difficulty level are you guys playing it, those of you, who complain about "too much" blood screen? I wonder if it is/was the game devs intention to slow you down from the run&gun arcade gameplay style to a more tactical - slower paced - style, so they can force you to watch their scripted events. On the other hand, I myself always have problems with FPS because I am way too cautious, trying to play it like a real life situation. Military training. One shot = kill/death. And that of course is not the way to play these games. "That's how I used to play the old Rainbow 6 games, where one shot kills happened, and getting shot elsewhere meant you limped around and couldn't aim properly. I honestly liked that approach more, but I think I'm a vast minority. I don't think people like the idea multi-player with one hit kills and no respawns.
I hate it too. It has a tinge of orange too....which is not blood. Also, the fact is that blood will never spurt onto a person's face like that: you are supposed to be a face, not a camera. Blood spurting around you would be a neater addition as well as a more accurate one. The fact that the screen gets so red that everything is obscured is not good either.
Is the character you're controlling wearing a face mask or something? Otherwise blood splatter on the screen doesn't make much sense if they truly are going for realism.
The way the blood splatters on looks nothing like what you would see if you got blood in your eyes. It looks more like you bled all over a pane of glass inches from your face. This is just more proof that in Call of Duty games, you don't control an actual character, just a camera with a gun stuck to it.
What's more obscuring is the out of focus dirt that blasts onto your "eyes". That would hurt, but your guy doesn't even try to rub it off.
Wow, this has to be one of the more bizarre criticisms of MW2 I've heard. When I see blood on the screen, I'm not thinking "Infinity Ward really dropped the ball on this blood colour, it should be darker." Instead I'm thinking "OHSHITSHITSHITI'MGETTINGHITGETDOWNGETBEHINDSOMECOVERBEFOREYOUDIE!!!".
Maybe when I've played multiplayer for 500+ hours I may notice this graphical oversight, but right now it's a sufficient indicator to tell me "Dude, get the fuck down."
