Overview
Michael Rooker is a character actor who got his first big break when he appeared as the title character in
Henry: Portrait of a Serial
Killer. Because of that film’s distinctly violent and psychopathic nature he has historically been cast in similar roles. The most recent example of this is the character of Merle Dixon in
The Walking Dead
television series on AMC. He is a playable character in the
Call Of Duty: Black Ops
DLC pack
Call Of The Dead.
Before that he had done video game voice work for both
Scarface: The World Is Yours
and
The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay
.
Rooker usually plays as violent characters. He has starred in some big movies such as Cliffhanger and JFK always in secondary roles (he plays Hayden Christensen's father in Jumper). If he's not playing a secondary character, he's playing as a bad guy or a monster like in Sliver. Recently, he has starred in the Walking Dead as Merle Dixon, a violent hick who enjoys slaughtering zombies while also being racist.
