    History

Marcus was born in Los Angeles, California in 1992, but his family soon moved to Oakland as they were unable to afford to continue living in LA. As Marcus grew up, he discovered an affinity for working with computers. When Marcus turned 20 years old, the Home Domain Center (HDC), a local surveillance initiative, led Marcus to be charged with robbery based on flimsy evidence, and in 2013 Marcus was sentenced to community service. Though Marcus enjoyed the chance to work with local children, having the arrest on his record unofficially cut him off from higher employment and caused others in Oakland to shun him. In response, Marcus decided to use his hacking skills to expose the HDC and the people behind it under the alias "Retr0."

After he successfully exposed the HDC, the hacktivist group DedSec recruited Marcus, but gave him the challenge of erasing his own profile from ctOS 2.0. Marcus not only succeeded, but planted a backdoor into Blume's servers to get easy access to ctOS across the area. He then went to work across the greater Bay Area, recruiting followers for DedSec and fighting back against Blume's allies.

    Other Appearances

Though he does not directly appear in the game, Marcus is mentioned a couple of times by Wrench in the Watch Dogs: Legion DLC, Bloodline.
