Bloody hell killzone came out in February! seems like only yesterday. With this updated i might actualy buy this now.

Usually you get used to the controls of a game over time, but I just got more and more frustrated with them
I wish they released a patch which gave Sev high heels too. I'm tired of staring at dudes nipples.
Imo the controls of kz2 aren't what made it less than what was promised, its the sheer fact the game is just boring as hell. I bought it thinking 'man this will be insane!' 3 missions later I stopped playing, haven't touched it since. A tweak to the feeling of the controls isn't going to make up for all the 'been there done that' strewn throughout the game.
For the record I think halo, gears and cod4 are equally as yawntastic, the shooter genre needs to go away for a while and come back when devs finally decide to be creative and innovative with it again.
Personally I loved the controls so I'm glad they're making this an option that you don't have to use.

Cool, atleast there still pumping out things for KZ2, I love this game.
Pumping? Have they been putting a lot of stuff out? I didn't really think so... Although I haven't been keeping up too much on how they have been supporting the game since release.
They should also update the demo, so I can see how this effects things. It was one thing that kinda bugged me, at least I think this is one.
But hey, while your at the controls, fix the "press and hold EVERY BUTTON/TRIGGER/BUMPER to shoot and aim from cover!" thing. Whihc is about the biggest breaking point for. In a cover based game, such things need to be streamlined more.
The problem with the controls was that there seemed to be a DeadZone on the analog sticks. For instance, you would have to move the analog stick about 15-20% in a particular direction befor your input even began to be registered.
That was my only gripe with the controls hopefully they nailed it. :D
I'd like to see how this actually works before I pass judgment. I know I'd like some finer precision in the game. The other day I was playing online and when I tapped the analog stick to the left for a headshot, the reticule jumped passed his head to over his left shoulder. When I tapped it right, it returned to aiming over his right shoulder. The scene did not end well for me. I'm not saying the patch will make me any better a player, but removing some of my frustration will go a long way in keeping me interested in the franchise.

This is one of the best decisions I could possibly think of. When will people realize that the L2/R2 aren't "triggers"? R3 for aiming and R1 for firing is perfect.
The controls are definently subpar, the dead zone as it was put, was significant so hopefully this helps, also I fin the controls unresponsive in general, when I go from dead stop to an extreme as fast as I can, there is an EXTREMELY noticable delay before any movement whatsoever. Still, for a multiplayer that sounded so badass I sold resistance 2, I find almost everything about it to feel cheap and unconnected, I might as well be playing vs CPU's......I want my RES2 back dammit.

Quake 2 was a dungeon shooter with very limited gameplay elements. Killzone 2 has huge open environments and gorgeous landscapes and contain very innovative gameplay (1st person cover) that adds to the fun of the game without actually changing it too much.
Quake 2 had stupid enemies, Killzone 2 has smart enemies.
No, your comparison is not good. Not even Quake 4 or Quake Wars are comparable to Killzone 2.
i personally like the controls for the single player campaign but they are hard to adjust to in multiplayer. after not playing for a few days i find myself taking 2-3 matches online to get used to them again. otherwise i think K2 is an amazing game and i'm really glad Guerilla is keeping up with the support. do we know when exactly this patch will be available? i checked this morning at 6 EST and it hadn't gone up yet.
Also I guess it is good to see they are upgrading the air support, they should do the same for the Turrets, itd be nice if either of them were an actual threat. Also its not surprising people complain about getting owned, when so many of the classes are cheap. Its pretty frustrating to be getting roid rocket launchered, 1 shot sniped and are running into proximity mines when all you start with is a relatively weak rifle with enough bullets to kill 1 person.

I think they've already done a stealth "noobification" of the controls in the previous patches.
I used to play with the x-axis sensitivity two notches above medium not I have to have both axis two notches below medium to regain the original feel.
