    Personality

"I'm a Crimean knight... and I'm very proud of that fact! No better friend! No worse enemy! A knight distinguishes himself in battle, returning in triumph to hear adulation from the people and praise from his lord! When you make your name as a knight, everyone knows you! The world is laid at your feet! And above all else, you can defend our beloved Crimea and her people with your own two hands!!" -- Kieran, in his A support with Oscar (Path of Radiance)

Kieran is a loud, prideful knight who is constantly training himself to become the best knight. This is proven by most everyone who speaks to him and usually find him swinging his axe around. Kieran has somewhat of a tunnel vision when it comes to training as shown in his conversation with Rhys. He can be so focused on his training that he does not notice when others are trying to get his attention, nor does he notice the injuries he often inflicts on himself in the process. Either that or he just doesn't care. He has an intense loyalty to his country and his comrades, which may be why he resents Oscar so much for leaving the Crimean Royal Knights. He can be quite thickheaded as well. Because of his pride, he is fond of telling stories of his previous adventures, most of which are bold, but most likely untrue.

    Story

    Kieran and Oscar
    Kieran and Oscar

In Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Kieran first appears in chapter eleven. Ike and his mercenaries find him, Nephenee, Brom, and Sephiran in a fortress that has been converted into a Daein prison. Once Ike frees him and Oscar talks to him, Kieran recognizes Oscar due to his features - namely "those squinty eyes" - and rants about his (one-sided) rivalry with Oscar. He escapes with them and meets Elincia. He vows to protect her as he practically recruits himself on Ike's side.

In Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Kieran first appears in Part Two chapter three. He is seen under the command of Geoffrey to destroy someone's forces. He can later be seen as reinforcement to Elincia's group when Castle Crimea comes under siege and Lucia goes missing. Then he's off to join with the Greil Mercenaries when they come to rescue Lucia from execution.

    Military Affiliation

He is a loyal Crimean knight who serves Elincia's father and Queen Elincia later on. In both games, he is always fighting for Crimea, and nothing and no one can ever recruit him to the other side.

    Supports

In Path of Radiance, Kieran has a total of 3 supports: Oscar, Rhys, and Marcia. It has been suggested that it was planned for Kieran to have additional supports with Geoffrey (for obvious reasons; they ARE friends, and Geoffrey's his superior) and Lethe (possibly because Kieran's so hotblooded and would've loved the chance to fight against a skilled laguz of the cat tribe) For whatever reasons, those supports were cut out.

For Kieran's support with Oscar, look at Oscar's page under the header "Supports." It's a thick paragraph that cannot be missed nor replicated here.

In his conversation with Rhys, Kieran greets the priest with a comment about the weather while Rhys screams. Confused by Rhys' reaction, the other frantically points out that Kieran is bleeding profusely. The knight realizes that there is indeed blood gushing from his head and finds it odd that he did not notice. Rhys is still in shock, but manages to attempt to retrieve his Heal Staff while Kieran scoffs at the "scratch." He attempts to start a tale about how he fought a giant scorpion when Rhys interrupts and heals the wound, questioning how Kieran could have sustained such serious injury. Kieran waves it off as maybe getting "a little crazy" while he was training. He says that it's all just training a Crimean Knight has to go through. While Rhys admires his devotion, he does wonder how Kieran manages to get hurt when training by himself. When next they meet, Rhys watches Kieran train while holding his Heal Staff. Kieran teases him for being a worrywart as he juggles his axe with a lance. Rhys then panics when Kieran now has an axe in his head while Kieran continues to be dismissive about another "scratch." When next they meet, Rhys tries to convince him to alleviate his training methods. Kieran is convinced that that is cowardice. Rhys then tries a different tactic by saying that Kieran would lose his reputation if he were to die in training rahter than on the battlefield. Kieran is shocked at the possibility and decides to take Rhys seriously. At least, until he spots a bear...

In his conversation with Marcia, Kieran wants to train with a Pegasus Knight and spots Marcia. He attempts to challenge her after introducing himself when Marcia states that she already knows his name. Kieran goes through all the possible scenarios of how Marcia would know his name already - "Am I that famous?" - when Marcia interrupts to say that Kieran always states his name and rank whenever they fight. Kieran gets flustered by this when Marcia asks what he wanted with her. Alas, Kieran cannot remember. When next they meet, Kieran thanks Marcia for telling him how to care for his horse when it fell ill. While Kieran insists that he repay Marcia somehow, she changes the subject to "What did you want to ask me again?" Alas, Kieran cannot remember. When next they meet, Marcia is happy to see that Kieran's horse is all healed now. Kieran thanks her again and says that he was just about to scrub his horse down. Marcia is surprised by this, thinking that Kieran would be too self-absorbed to care for a horse. Kieran than announces that his horse is his brother-in-arms, not just transportation. It's common sense. He then tries to tell the tale of when he fought the giant Whippoorwill when Marcia leaves him.

In Radiant Dawn, Kieran can have a support with anyone he spends a lot of time with. In his C support, he will tell the unit that he's glad to see them alive. In his B support, he will ask the unit if they want to charge the field together. In his A support, he will tell the unit that he's proud of them, and that all he wants is to be together with them always.

Kieran shares a 5% bond support with Geoffrey in both games.

As it turns out, there is some unused content on the support system for Radiant Dawn. If Kieran were to have a support with certain characters, then he would have a full-length support conversation in the A support conversation only. Of course, the full-length support conversation for the A support was cut out. This may be due to Ike and Micaiah having an immense amount of potential A support conversations...and either of them alone would be too many.

The characters that were planned to have the special support conversation with (and the possible reasons) were:

    • Elincia (She is his queen)
    • Geoffrey (bond support, friends, etc)
    • Rhys and Marcia (his supports in Path of Radiance)
    • Oscar (his "archrival")
    • Renning (a more experienced Gold Knight and uncle to his queen)
    • Lyre (couldn't find Lethe?)
    • Reyson (no clue)

    Classes

In Path of Radiance, Kieran starts off as a level twelve Axe Knight. When he reaches level twenty-one or uses a Master Seal when he reaches level ten or higher, then he will promote to the second and final tier Paladin class. The player is then given a choice on whether they want Kieran to have the sword, bow, or lance as a secondary weapon. For starting skills, he has Gamble, a skill that doubles Kieran's critical hit rate at the cost of his hit rate being halved.

In Radiant Dawn, Kieran starts off as a level eleven Axe Paladin. When he reaches level twenty-one or uses a Master Crown when he reaches level ten or higher, then he will promote to the third and final tier Gold Knight class, and gain the master skill Sol. Kieran now has Canto in addition to Gamble. Canto is a skill that allows Kieran and other mounted units to use all of their movement in two turns after doing certain things like attack, talk, or use item. However, if Kieran uses all of his movement in one turn, he cannot use his Canto ability.
