Overview
Joyful Executions is a free to play, wave based puzzle game, on the Android and iOS platform. The game parodies the aesthetics of totalitarian state, North Korean and satirises the regime's use of propaganda as well as its harsh capital punishment against what they consider enemies of the state.
Objective
You control Commissar Kim Bok Kyong, a little girl who has been tasked with a four man firing squad, executing waves of enemies of the state, with various weapons. You have a limited time to strategise appropriate weapons to be used on waves of enemies, some are immune to specific weapons, whilst others are more susceptible to and vice versa. Higher points are awarded for fast efficient executions, which can be used to upgrade and acquire more devastating weapons.
Enemies of the State
There are four enemy types; Despicable Traitors, The Poisonous Corrupter, The Depraved Perverts and The Destroyer of Worlds.
Pacified Version
After a month of release on the Apple Store, the game was subsequently removed citing a number of guidelines were not followed resulting in its removal. Paragraph 16.1 of its App Store guidelines states that: "Apps that present excessively objectionable or crude content will be rejected." And in a separate clause from Apple's guidelines, 15.3: "'Enemies' within the context of a game cannot solely target a specific race, culture, a real government or corporation, or any other real entity,"
"LITTLE GIRLS TRAINING EDITION", an alternative censored version was made specifically for Apple and higher resolution tablet platforms. All human enemies have been replaced with dummies, filled with urine instead of exploding into puddles of blood and gore. The Divine Leader, Kim Jong Un, has also been altered, with a comical strap-on prosthetic nose, in an attempt to disguise his identity.
