History
Jim Henson (1936-1990) was a filmmaker, writer, and puppeteer, best known for bestowing the entertainment industry with the Muppets and Sesame Street, which have influenced puppetry and children's programming for years. He also performed many of their characters, most notably Kermit the Frog, Ernie, and Rowlf the Dog. In addition to the Muppets, he also broke into more adult puppet fare, such as The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth.
Sadly, he passed away in 1990 due to an untreated throat infection, but his influence and the Muppet name live on. He provided posthumous voice work in the game A Visit to Sesame Street: Letters and Numbers.
He had 5 children with his wife Jane: Lisa, Cheryl, Brian, John (deceased), and Heather. They continue to run their father's company, with Brian and John dabbling in puppetry themselves.
