Even though there exists a great breadth of Italian accents, the most commonly imitated ones tend to be from Sicily, or are merely a hodge-podge of English words with vowels thrown into them. Most commonly used by people associated with the Mafia, or by people who make pizza.

Italian Accent
As the name implies, the Italian accent originates from Italy. The accent is predominantly spoken in Italian, and occasionally English.
The accent has been heard frequently in Assassin's Creed II and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. Assassin's Creed protagonist Ezio Auditore da Firenze and famed plumber Mario are a few notable examples of characters presenting an Italian accent.
Italian-American Accent
This accent originates from the east coast of the United States, and is spoken in a wide variety of areas such as New York City, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Connecticut. The accent is a mixture of both Italian and American accents, and is typically spoken in English.
The Italian-American accent has commonly been associated with the Mafia, and as such is commonly featured in the Mafia game series. Characters such as Don Salieri, Vito Scaletta, Joe Barbaro and Luca Gurino speak with heavy Italian-American accents.
